I smoked 2 packs of Marlboro reds a day for 10 years, been smoke free for 12 now...............never even get the urge.
I used the patch, but it was mainly for those around me, I'm a dick as it is anyways.............
Good luck man, those things will kill ya.

Good luck. And keep a positive attitude. It's as hard as you make it. I never ever smoked either, but I did drink. I quit drinking on my birthday in 1987, and don't regret one minute of it.

Re: time to quit smoking
3 week plan:
Week 1: You can hardly drive by a 7-11 without your car trying to turn in for a pack of smokes.
Week 2: When you see somebody light up, you want to bum a cigarette from them.
Week 3: When you see somebody light up, you want to kick their ass and TAKE their cigarettes from them.
We quit when they got to 2 bucks a pack. RIDICULOUS !!!!!
It has been 5 or 6 years, and I want one RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!

This sounds like me!!! I waited 'till they were over 5 bucks a pack!! Things are a bit more money here in Canada!! I could still light up.........
Some people can't stand the smell after they quit.

After you have quit and can smell and taste again the 2nd hand smoke is very bothersome.................you'd don't realize how bad it is when your smoking..................nothing worse than a non smoker who used to smoke lol. My allergies are a lot worse now, in fact some customers trucks reek so bad inside of smoke I refuse to drive them. Spit cups are another thing that will set me off.......clean your nasty ass shit out of your vehicle before taking it in for servie work......kind of like going to a proctologist and not wiping your ass before you go............
They were 2 bucks a pack when I quit, cant imagine how you guys spend that king of money on the habit now.

Re: time to quit smoking
Yeah, I can't stand cheap cig stink anymore, the name brands are a little better, but all of it stinks to me now.
It took a few years for that to happen, but it's been about 15 years now.
I'm with ya about spittle containers, that will piss me off in no time at all, I think having to clean up at the racetrack had more to do with that than anything else.

Re: time to quit smoking
After 35 years of smokin' I let 'em go two weeks ago.
Had a few slip ups, but I'm back on the 'ol wagon. The
FSC thing tipped the scale for me, I can't STAND 'em.
This aint easy, but stick with it, it's worth it.

Re: time to quit smoking
I was a two pack a day smoker for 35 years then on Aug. 31th 2001 I said I had enough and stopped. I used the gum for the first week. But I used it like gum and almost over dosed on nicotine. Got sicker then a dog and was in bed all weekend. On Monday the next week I said I made it all weekend with out a crutch and never used on again .. been smoke free now for 9 years. "Now when I quit I told myself the easiest thing to do was to quit quitting"bbfstang wrote:it is time to quit .drop them cold turkey today @ 2 pm..and yes having some cravings..but I refuse to give in this time everyone wish me luck
Yes I put on 20# and I'm some what of a A$$hole on different days. But I feel better all around.
Just keep telling yourself I'm done .... it will get easier.

I heard that your lungs will start cleaning them selfs out the day you quit. I use to cough up Brown luggies now after 9 years there clear to lite green. Must mean something good.
