Piston to Valve Clearance method
Has anyone use this method from Reher Morrison Motorsports?? Are there any issues with this method?

It’s really not that hard or time consuming to pressurize the cylinder with air and put on two checker springs. Then you can easily rotate the engine and simply push down on the valve with your finger while watching the gauge.

With a pressurized cylinder, you are not gonna easily rotate the engine or simply use your finger to push open a valve;
Until you first relieve the pressure.

Checking springs are not reality. As the PM video states the difference can be .030 . Of note on that video is WHERE he says to check piston to valve . Nowhere near the .800-.900 numbers guys throw out to impress people. At that "total lift" , piston to valve clearance has gone to 1 inch.

I always use a checker spring and figure .025-.030 less in my final numbers depending on the spring. Idk about anybody else but I’ve found the closest points @ 10• before and after tdc. Sometimes with a very long rod it’s closer at 15• but all depends greatly on the position of the cam timing.
