I just bought a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis going to do the front end swap and rear end out of it into the 69. Also when I finish that going to pull the engine and transmission out of my Ranger and installing it into the 69. When I get started I will post pictures of the swap. Going with the 8.8 for the disc brakes and to keep my bolt pattern the same. When I get the engine and transmission out of the Ranger I will sell it as a roller if anyone is interested in it shoot me a pm. I can go ahead and pull it out and let the ranger go now.

Have you thought about just swapping the truck body onto the Merc frame? It’s been done a few times but I’m not sure what year of truck it’s doable with.

The front CV swap is the best thing we ever did to our truck. Completely transformed the truck. Love it.

I seen a couple of them done that way I don't want to cut my bed of the truck up like they do plus they have to cut the cab to make it fit. I am not looking to make a bumper drag effect I just like to drop it a couple of inches

What kind of motor mounts did you use on yours for the bbf or did you design your own

We just modified the stock f250 mounts to bridge from the top of the frame rail over to the CV's engine mount pedestal.

We bolted a flat piece of steel to the CV pedestals, then trimmed the towers until they fit correctly, then welded them to the flat plates. Done. The driver's side later needed a small notch to clear the steering shaft properly.

Post  69F100 January 29th 2022, 8:59 pm

Finished installing the front end it went in real easy. I still have 1 weld left to make ran out of argon got to trade the bottle out Monday and weld the bracket up. All the brake lines off the old frontend worked out just right I didn't have to buy anything. I just had to bend the bango hard line to clear the wheels. The steering shaft worked great took the rag joint rubber out bolted it together. I had 3/4" double d shaft , 1" double d and 1" double d u joint left over from a 57 Chevy I restored for a Doctor. The only part I had to buy was the triangle ford to 3/4" joint I took the rag joint off the steering box the 3/4 shaft fit with a little polishing on the shaft drove it in the rag joint coupling. Took and cut a 1" double d shaft just long enough to fit in the u joint slide it over the 3/4" shaft and cut it just a tad shorter than the 1" then welded the 3/4 to the rag joint coupling slide the 1" over it and welded it. Could have just welded the u joint to the coupling but I wanted to have it if I ever needed to change the joint I could easy. Now all I have to do before painting it is modify the engine stands to work when I get my argon for the welder. I got the 4" lowering kit for the rear but I going to wait on installing it until I get the engine back in and frontend all back on to make sure l don't lower the rear to much. I am not into this new thing of lowering the rear way lower than the front.

Made some good head way on it today. Got the engine stands built and got the front frame rails and firewall painted. While the paint was drying I got the inner fenders and and cleaned them to start sanding them down for primer and paint. Had to buy a oil pan mine is a front sump it would have worked but changing oil would have been a pain only had about 3/8" clearance between cross member and pan. I went ahead and ordered everything to freshen up to engine before putting it back in. The headers are going to work out good I can get the header on the right side with out having to jack the motor up.

The frontend swap is finished now I am rebuilding the Engine hope to have it back together if my new cam and lifters make it here today and put it in tomorrow. I have this week off work I have had the COVID for the last 4 days. Hope to start putting the inner fenders and front radiator support back Friday. Then rewire under the hood and fire it off Saturday. As long as I can get enough strength up from this covid I had. Oh ya I got to build a power steering pump bracket for the 08 pump my pump will not fit the hoses for the rack

Had to make my new Summit swap pan fit their brand swap pan will not fit over a Melling oil pump I had to add 1'' to the front sump to clear the pump and drain plug. The new Melling HV pump is about 3/8'' taller than the old Melling HV pump that 18 years old not sure what pump Summit uses with that pan but not it will work with the Melling. Still waiting on the cam and lifters that has never showed up UPS sure screwed up on this shipment. It was lost in shipment and sent back now they say it is out for delivery today again we will see. The guy I talked with at UPS said it was cause of bad weather over the weekend I told him I ordered this before the bad weather they are the ones that screwed up and lost it / sent it back. Just maybe it will get here today and I can get it installed today and check my valve to piston clearance. it had set me back a few days for sure. I did find me a 1150 Dominator on Facebook market for $250 for my 552 when I take the Ron's toilet off and go back to gas couldn't pass on it.

Got the engine back in started mocking up the power steering pump pulled the pulley off then pulled the pulley off the pump from the truck. It will not work on the 08 pump shaft was to small so started digging through some pumps my buddy has. I found one that would work so I ordered a new pump should have it Monday. Plus had to buy a new dizzy the shaft bushings are worn out. I didn't notice it when I pulled it out. When I installed it I noticed the shaft would move if I retard the dizzy and the star would hit the pick up. I don't know how the truck was running as good as it was before I put the engine. So I will try to fire it up next week sometime after I get the pump and dizzy installed.

She is alive again took it down the road it drives great tried to upload a video, but it said I was not allowed. It is a handful from a 5mph roll when you smash it to the floor and it hit 2nd gear going to have to get the trans so I can manually shift it once it hit 2nd it goes in to drive at about 3800 rpm. Now it's time to lower the rear-end and get back to the body work and paint.
