Any Idea's or ever heard of them?
I have seen quite a bit of XE stuff but, this is a first.
I wonder if it was some kind of 1974 or so PI head deal Ford had for latter 460 PI's ( To Cut Cost's with Regular Rockers) after the D20E's ran out?
Also has anyone ever heard of a D3AE-FE? It was alledged to be a PI head also? See Link Below.

Re: XE147617 Claimed to be 429CJ Pedistal Mount Rockers
Speculation: In the early 1970s Ford was working on a 460 Cobrajet engine when the gas crunch killed it; perhaps the bolt-down pedestal rockers (which Ford changed over to at about that time) were going to be incorporated on the CJ heads for the 460 Cobrajet. Randy knows more about this and might be able to shed some light.supervel45 wrote:https://www.ebay.com/itm/255674914625?hash=item3b87699741:g:H04AAOSwKV9i91~z&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsGww8GcMAOECWch7GVhRo2ikDMnnJDuxC32DcwKt1grPT%2BqCb8ckSpxt6r9%2FusFpqSf74PyCCmRgI275twJdvsj%2Bn3pOPzwsKMQeWXJmYvmaRcoiZUVGrZ7soLClB%2BYVVdsxBQzHXzQMC8ABWGvd7IInbi%2BXmm3FDxLDOpeAJo%2FX5AxJoAWY7p8BcaVrZO9W7jExc%2F3%2F7yyNr1rGvxc4WsX%2FPONgY4B%2FYEdxZg1fOSOS%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4rSi5XmYA

Wow, plagiarize much? There was no D3AE 385 Series cylinder head of which I am aware. The only reference to one is in the Tom Monroe Big Block Ford book which has lots of errors in its Engineeering Revision section. That's from where I'll bet the "D3AE-FE" reference was lifted.supervel45 wrote:Also has anyone ever heard of a D3AE-FE? It was alledged to be a PI head also? See Link Below.

By the way, it's not plagiarism if the lifted information that is presented includes a footnote with the sourced reference matieral (ie, the Tom Monore book, and also the two independent websites from which I believe other info was taken ).

He can keep 'em ... a nostalgia freak is the only type person who would even think about paying that much for them.

I agree with you Paul about the linked article.
When I read it the first time it did seem like Network 54, the early days of the 460 Ford website and Paul Kane's High Flow Dynamic's website.
As for as the Tom Monroe Big Block Ford book, maybe he "Tom Monroe" got some of the info from the old Ford literature or XK, XE notes or a few were made/proposed and/or scraped.
The old Holley parts manuals with all the List#'s and description is the reason I think along this line.
They have at least two carburetors listed for muscle cars that were never built in 1970 and 1971 and maybe produced some for the new model year, and then the engine was dropped, for Ford and Chevy.
As Ford the 460 Cobra, I agree.
That had slipped my mind and the link for the heads threw ,me off with what they assume might be a 1974 date on the heads. I would also think a 460Cobra and a 460PI would be linked and share parts like the 429's did as well as the 1973 460PI and the ever elusive 1974 460PI may have.
The mechanical cams were going away with the Leaded Gas so no need for the guide plates and adjustable rockers.
Starksy and Hutch Interceptor to catch 455 SD Bandits for all anybody knows.
Also the ports on these XE heads look smaller then CJ ports in the pictures to me.
Anyway I hope GT350HR has some notes on this old stuff and and maybe can clear this up.
PS:As for as the price he's fishing and I think he just wants them out of the shop, judging by the writeup.
PS2: Went back to the link and noticed they are in Australia, So there's that as they had some offbeat Ford Stuff.
PS3: Looks like I was mistaken about the ports being PI. The same guy has a D20E-A head listed, and on second glance you can see the difference. My bad.
PS:4 Shit. I looked a the below link of the 429 PI head again. For any other Ford casting number Freaks it's 2OE-A with NO D in front as normally seen on the exhaust manifold ledge.

If I could embed the pictures I would. I have nothing to do with these heads and not suggesting anyone else should. I have never seen an XE like this is all.
