I want to get my engine dyno'd
I have talked with Charlie, Mike and Phillip but it has been some times now. When would be a good time to look into doing this?
I have a couple of simple questions.
1. Besides a complete long block, intake and distrubitor what other parts would I need?
2. Tool, I know I will need to bring my own timing gun.
3. Ignition box and coil?
4. Fuel system?
Patrick over at Prosystems suggest if I decide to go with his sv-1 carb that I get it before the dyno test. Where Phillip as offered to bring one or two carbs and tune them to the engine on the dyno.
I'd like to try a 4500 intake manifold and 2" to 2-1/4" headers. Would really like to try a solid roller setup but I don't know how it could be done.

I got some 2" Dyno Headers you can borrow.
Let me know when you'll be hitting it and I see about stopping by.

Hope it all comes together Jonesy. Good luck Buddy. I have a set of 2" Chassis headers if you can use them for the Dyno.

Bruno, I doubt my engine will support a 600 shot but that would be a fun dyno event!

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
You don't need a ign. box....coil and t. light would be optional .
Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
I've got a Saturday Night Special Lem grind roller cam if you'd like to give one a whirl. I don't have an extra set of lifters though. I learned a lot of good info when I did mine, and was glad everything was spot on when it was done.

Would you have a way to run the water pump or should I try to setup a pulley setup? How much of the fuel system is needed? I am using a by-pass regulator and electric fuel pump.

The hardest part about swapping to a solid roller is almost everything would have to change. Pushrods, valvesprings, lifters. Where if I was already using a roller setup it would just be a camshaft and valvespring swap.

Use Mike's pump and reg. You can use the motor and belt thing that can be seen on the 502 truck engine .

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
PS. Lem, would you mind if you was the bank for my "jones Dyno Fund"? Anyone that cares to donate towards the dyno fees or needed parts.
I'll need to scrap togather some money for a carb or else just bring my old 850 dp.

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
I also have a "Few" Carbs laying around......... Just figure out what you want to try.
Set up a plan and try not to include eveything in the world. Timing Loops, Carb Swaps and Tuning and Maybe Some Header changes are typical pretty productive things to get done in a short time.

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
Break engine in if I hadn't all ready. Then first pull would be using the J429 intake with adapter plate to fit a 1100 dominator. Then try a single plane 4500 intake with the same carb. Adjust valve lash some. Maybe play with cam timing if the numbers appear to be way off. maybe try bigger or smaller carbs, just depend on what the carb folks think.

It would be cool if we could find a 100 0r 200 shot plate to try on it!

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
It's always a good idea to run the engine at home first if you can. That way all leaks and problems can be fixed then , and not on dyno time. Carb set, timing base set, heads retorqued, Valves set hot ect...............
I will come up and help if you need me.

Re: I want to get my engine dyno'd
I was just thinking of that. I might have to attempt to build my own break-in stand. I have some old mechancal guages I could use.
