Re: I have a question?
Sometimes its STEAL depending on where the come from
I've often wondered that myself
People think the Iron ones are heavy, imagine the weight of an engine block, heads, and intake made from steel

LOL every farmer with a Miller thunderbolt and a box of 7018's would be a professional block repair man.

Come on Coug, don't be so technical. Its just a gearheads figure of speach. Hell, I sometimes call my engine a motor, but every hillbilly like me on here know's what i'm talking about.

Re: I have a question?
yes I know engines run on gas or diesel, motors are electric, but it is irritating to hear someone say my motor has steel heads and a steel block...

Re: I have a question?
Why do we call a manual transmission a "standard"? It used to be because it was standard equipment and the automatic was an option.
Soooooo......
Should we now call an automatic a "standard".

Re: I have a question?
. . . . who knows
Why do people call it a "ATM machine", ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine, so that would make it an Automated Teller Machine Machine ? What about "VIN number", Vehichle Identification Number Number ?
I think I refer to the heads as just "iron", "it's an iron headed engine".

OK, now we're getting too technical. Careful, as some older fellows may get a headache.

Re: I have a question?
I was just thinking about some more stuff and you know what, even though I know it's an engine, I say "motor plate" and if someone is not using nitrous I say "it's on motor" or "that's all motor". I also have a local Electrical inspector that goes nuts if someone puts "Hot Water Heater" on a panel directory, he says "why would you heat hot water, it's just a water heater" .

tell them to eat a dick. Most of them are 20 years behind the times, and have an inferiority complex. IMO'65 T-BOLT wrote:Paulie! we must have the same Electrical Inspector!
