This year's carnage
Last November I took the 'Chero over to my Grandson's and picked him up to go for Tim Horton's donuts. Upon ignition , I heard a noise and immmediatly shut off the motor and called a deck truck. I had dropped another intake valve seat in my A429's.
The carnage in # 6, 7, and 8:
Head carnage includes seat shrapnel, mushroomed stud holes, and cracked stud bosses:
The remedy:
I ordered loaded Kaase P-51's, .060 Diamond flat top pistons, rings, cometic head gaskets, and for good measure a Kaase oil pump and Jomar oil filters from Lem.
It's been a pleasure dealing with Lem and Shawn and I got everything but the heads via USPS in 6 days all the way to Calgary Alberta. Lem says the heads go to the post office tomorrow!
The block and pistons are at the machine shop now.

Got to love it... It broke and pissed you off, so you're upgradeing to show it who's boss.
Sounds like something I'd do.
I'd be interested to see what the new combo will do.

Re: This year's carnage
Ken,
I am very sorry to see the damage that you had with your engine. My condolences.
If you don't mind, would you please tell me what serial numbers were your heads? They should be stamped on the roof of the intake ports somewhere. Also, what size valves did they have in them? Did they have a 2.250" intake or a 2.200" intake? I am assuming this was a mild cam deal since it was in your truck engine, am i correct about that?
Thanks,
Charlie Evans

Re: This year's carnage
Charlie, the A429's were from the second series heads. I sold them so I don't have the serial # and they were max ported by a fellow here in Calgary ... RIP. The intake valves were 2.250", have to look up the exhaust valve size. The mild cam I was running was a Comp 34-710-9. The motor made 466 hp at the wheels through a Merkl prepped C6 last year.
Hopefully I can send the bare heads to you next winter for your magic.
