Test the wires coming form the ignition box by taking the one connection that runs into the bottom/side of the dizzy, and make a "U" shaped wire. Connect the one color with the other (on the same side of the connector) and have the coil wire disconnected where it goes into the dizzy. Put it next to something that it could arc to. have the ignition switch in the on position and like I said "Connect the one color with the other". It should arc, if not it could be your box. Check to make sure all the connections are good too. If its too confusing to understand, let me know. I'll try to splayn it to you in a better way.

Does the coil have juice? Do you have the gaps set right?

Dam you J R! After I responded to this my 302 took a poop. It doesn't want to start, finally got it going. So is there power going to the coil but not to the distributor? Then it could be the coil or a wire running into it like a condenser wire or one on the coil itself.

Fire is getting to the coil but it's still not going to the otherside of the coil going to the Distributor.

If I remember correctly the points should be set to around .021"-.022". Make sure the points are making contact parallel. Have you checked the dwell? Each point should be about 26°.
Did you check to see if your coil is good? On a points ignition system the easiest way to see if the coil is good is to just unplug it from distributor and hold it near the head or something and have someone crank the motor. What coil do you have? How do you have it wired? You should be hot on the (+) side when the key is on. Then check for the ground pulse on the other side (-) while cranking by putting the test light alligator clip on the positive side of the battery and the other end on the (-) side. It should flash while cranking.
Other than that is the button in the rotor burned?
I am just thinking of simple stuff to check. I don't know how much experience you have with this setup so forgive me.

my mallory for my 351 did that same stunt.
Check your condencer and grounds. the internals have poor grounding at best so they like to eat condencers with aftermarket coils
