Another Tractor post
I don't know if all of you guys know but we farm. We have John Deere tractors and have one in the shop now. It is an 8520 that is factory rated at 250 hp. The last dyno number that we had put it close to 400hp with the programmer and stuff we had on it. Well..........to make a long story short it only lasted a few years. The high injector pressures caused one to fail and now we have a ported piston. hahaha

Did you have a pyro in the tractor? Buddy here runs a chip in his 2388 CIH combine, but definately runs a pyro in it to monitor exhaust temps. Where in TX do you farm?

south of Abilene.
no pyrometer but JD has a service bulletin out for the exact problem. The programmer increases the fuel pressure so high in the lines that injectors fail. We bought the programmer from the dealer that is rebuilding the engine now and they have stopped selling all programmers.

What kind of crops do you raise? We're mostly corn, beans, and wheat up here. I do quite a bit of hay in the summer too.

The nice thing about those Deere's is they blend in with the tree row when you park them there.
