Now i got a carb problem???
Ok i took my car to the track for this first time ran one good pass then it just quit then i saw that it didnt have any fuel (e85). So i put fuel in it now barely will crank if i keep it raved up it will run crappy if i let it idle it overflows out of the tube on the top of the carb and dies. the 1 pass i made it was running good but used a crazy amout of fuel now it just floods a dies. Its a brand new quick fuel e85 950 carb what could b wrong?

Floats are stuck you will fill the engine with fuel if you don't watch it. Take the needle and seat out and clean them must have some debri holding them open.

how much pressure you got going to it to much pressure will cause a problem want let the niddle seat seal and check float level

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
I didn't check the pressure cause I was by myself but before it ran out of gas It was around 6 psi but it used like 10 gallons of gas just easing around and makeing one pass I sure was hoping to drive it on the street but I can't if it keeps using that much fuel

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
we use fluid regulators at work in the paint shop they work the same as a gas regulator, sometimes when they run out of paint it will clog the regulator and cause it to pump to much pressure, I know the gas regulator hardly ever gives a problem but it might have a little peace of trash in it and holding it higher than it should or like said the float could have a pin hole in it,check your pressure if it's ok pull the bowl off and check the float good and set the float and check and make sure the neddle and seat is closing good is it flooding in the front and rear if so it more than likely a pressure problem.

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
i didnt think you had to run one on a mechanical pump ..... but that pump does state between 6.5 and 8 psi ....... i would run one to make sure my pressure is consistent ...

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
6 psi should not blow the needles off the seat. which bowl vent did it shout out of? have you checked the oil level?
10 gal is a bunch, E 85 uses more but not that much. Either you ran it longer than you thought, its been flooding into the motor the whole time, or its in the crankcase............

That does bring other questions to mind, you are running a carb set-up for e85and a compatable fuel system????

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
I checked the oil it seemed fine i put a lil more than 10 gal in it broke it in drove a mile then one pass I thought it would b a lil better I really don't know anything about carbs but the front bowl is overflowing I took it off and cleaned it and it didn't help...
I had the fuel pump before I went to e85 so I decided to try it the rest is a 17 gal plastic cell and 1/2" alum line

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
clean it again,it's got something in it or the float is bad.you need to see if that pump works with e85 or your pissen in the wind.

Re: Now i got a carb problem???
What i would do is check the Floats for cracks by taking them out of the carb and putting then in a blow of water to see if you see air bubles form the Floats. If no air bubles from the Floats i would just change out the needle and seat and get a guage on the fuel pump to see what the fuel psi is. Most carbs are in the ball park of 6-12psi on the stock style needle and seats.
