What do you guys rev your motors to??

I have a built 466. What are you guys shifting at on the bottle?

7200

7400 528 w a460 heads

old 466 with stock rods about 6800

529, no bottle, 7500...............

How "built" is this motor? Don't go out tomorrow thinking your the shit and rev it to 7200. I'm building a 466 thats going to have very close to 520hp and 620 ft-lbs and all I'm going to get it to for the shifts is 5500. It depends on HOW its build, not HOW MUCH. Like what cam is in it? Heads, carb, ect.? I'll be able to tell you once I get that info.

I'm not.. I shift mine at 6500.

Those first 3 replies were from guys with "built" motors, and we are the shit......we'll at least I am lol.

Data loggers say-- 7800 rpm on the shifts most of the time but, told the "Kid " to run it as had as needed , 8500 is common annd the motors been over 9300 at times !!! and that's no SH!T

I try to keep it uder 7k. Doesnt always happen though.

528 4.150 crank 7" rods 4.5" bore with C460 heads use to shift at 8500 with rev limter set 8800

Shift at 6800. 1/4 mile turning 7200 - 7400.

-Our sbf nitrous motor 7800rpm ran 5.50's at the end at 3300lbs.
-Our sbf turbo motor 8000rpm has run a 5.15 at 21lbs boost @3350lbs.
-Home built 466 bbf in the works that I have been told will be in the 7500-7800 range with rules limited ported stock heads, a huge flat tappet cam, and a 4150 carb.

I have heard of one guy that is spinning his turbo BB over 10000rpm on the shift.

598 CI on motor Launch 4800 shift 7800 finishline 8200

5400.....nice and easy....lol
