Re: Compression test ?
Bruno why not just get you a leak down tester and check it that way, that way you check the ring seal, if thats what you are worried about....

Re: Compression test ?
Throttle blades wired open, coil wire disconnected and all plugs removed.
Best to disconnect the wires coming from the box than just pulling the coil wire. I always seem to put my hand on the coil, for some reason! LOL

Re: Compression test ?
ok then Bruno
#1. take the plugs out
#2. open carb wide open
#3. remove coil wire
#4. crank it over X amount of times, I go 3 to 5 complete rounds
make sure you do it the same to every cylinder but make sure you watch the guage so you can count how many time it pumps and do every one the exact same amount of times.
and that will give you an indication if something is wrong.
but you can get a leak down set up from Snap On or Mac, or Sears

Wish I could have saved the brick, Hate wasting a good brick on a worthless cam but you have to make sacrifices.....

What I did was have someone watch the gauge and tell me when it no longer went up. Then I stopped, plus the carb was closed. I guess I did that wrong but I did it before the teardown and I'm punching it out 30.
I guess I'm missing something here. What happend with you and the JA cam and would you like to cry on my shoulder? What's bad about them, I've never even heard of them I tink?the Coug wrote:Jon the way I degree Jay Allen Cams are when I get them I remove them and Drop them over a Brick and when they break I deposit both the brick and cam in Dumpster.....
