Value of a true Boss 429 ?
I know the economy is in the tank, but I have a buddy is contemplating selling his Boss 9 long block. It's been pieced together, but has all correct Ford parts. Non matching head numbers (they're both street heads), a true Boss 9 block (.030 over), after market crank n rods (521cu), custom cut forged pistons (9.3:1cr), mild Comp Cam w/ hydraulic lifters, stock valve train, correct valve covers.
Tuff times for a buddy is causing him to think about selling it. It has only a days worth of dyno time on it. Just looking for some realistic opinions of the value of his Boss 9. Thanks for any info !!!!

Good Luck Dave I had mine for sell about 6 moths ago and I thought I had it priced as low as I was going to go and a guy came and looked at it and offered me 1/2 of what I wanted I showed him the Door and told him to not come back.....

Gonna take a stab in the dark. The heads are worth about $5-8000 depending on who wants them, and the long block about $2000 or so. Comes up to about $7-10K.

last block I sold Schmitty went for $4500 cuz it was STD... but that was also 5 or so years ago.... and it was a numbers block....
That reminds me Dave on the left rear head surface check and see if there are any numbers, if so P.M. them to me and I will get a friend to post them on the searching for parts for 429 bosses, it could be a sought after block out of someones car and if so might be able to help you part with it to the original cars owner....

With all the new aftermarket stuff out now the value of the origional stuff has taken a pretty big hit add to that the soft economy and you see where I'm going.

Thanks guys !!! We were right in the same ballpark. Aftermarket has probably hurt prices, and 10K was what we thought a realistic # would be. Just wanted some other opinions. He feels if he can't get 10 out of it, it's not worth selling. Again, thanks for the replies.

heads have been around 3500 to 5000 < (which is way too high) for a long time,i understand 3500.00
blocks 1500 to 3500, if its a 521 the rotatiing asb is nothing as far as stock value, rockers per set 1200 is cheap, high side is 2000.00 , correct dampner which it probaly does not have can be as high as 450/500.00
valve covers are around 500.00 a pair (alum), intakes 500.00 and up
these engines are not cheap, but some people are crazy on their prices

When we were at the Swap in Columbus,me and Blake was looking at a original Boss shortblock that was still together and needed gone completely thru,Dirty and dingy like it had been lying in the scrap pile for awhile. The only thing there was the S block(minus oil pan).I ask the guy the price and he said it was sold to a guy from iowa for 9K
