Too good to be true...but was. Tunnel Port FE.
I had a call today from a (Chevy) racer buddy of mine in Florida. HE was helping someone dissasemble a good used engine that he had just purchased for $500.
He was asking me about the round intake ports and the pushrod running through a tube in the port. He is a youngster and had never heard about or seen the legendary Tunnel Port 427.
This guy bought a running, side-oiler tunnel port for $500.
I am still shaking my head in disbelief. I guess those deals are out there.............

I bet that engine is worth 12 to 15 grand to a collector. What do you think?

Nice find! I have a friend here that's been trying to sell his for awhile now for $10,000 and no bites at that price. He also has a 427 SOHC sitting right next to it in the front window of his shop.

I would think those guys in FE.Com would have sniffed that out of the wood work..lol.. they pay some crazy money for that motor..and if it was dated coded for close to the same month..even more so....I have a bud thats building one from all original ford parts..except the Pond block, and I bet he has $15K just in parts right now..It'll be an original spec motor right down to the 8V to go in his 68 Cougar GT.. Well I take that back...he went with a 428 crank to get 454 cubes out of it..

The TP stuff was over the counter only and no "Codes" so the stuff is unique but not restoration stuff. Plus their is plenty of reproduction stuff out their.

Those are Tunnel port 302 for heads for Trans Am racing, Ford built a few thousand of them before they pulled the plug on the program. They where actually heading for street / production mustangs with 2 autolite carbs. got replaced by the Boss 302 in 1969.

Yeah, I understand the TP 302 heads made so much power at such high revs, the short blocks were grenades. Enter the Boss 302.
