stock convertors are real tight and get pretty undrivable sitting in traffic when you step up the cam duration, IMO spend the few extra $$ on the proper convertor it makes thing alot more drivable and faster. Well worth the $$$

Get a converter, it makes a world of difference. If you have a built motor with the stock converter you rob the power from the engine so to say and it will want to stall while in gear at a light. The new converter allows the rpms to get higher before it starts turning the tires. Get a stall in the range of 2000-2500 rpms. By the way, nice choice of truck, I have a 67 f100 longbed. Go to fordification.com and they will help you out with any of your truck questions. The engine experts are here though.
