mikep wrote:Well the TNT didn't go very well!!! Went to start the car and the starter which sounded crappy last time I took it out spun the gear off of it..
So we push it out of the trailer and jack it up and pull the starter out and the clip that holds the gear on was missing and the gear just fell off. So I have a spare starter and started putting it in and water starts dripping on my face out of the collector. Thinking it was just condensate I took the radiator cap off to verify there was still water in it and whoosh the radiator was pressurized from just the engine turning over so I was done.
I drove 5 hours total to pull my starter out LOL!!!! I guess I'll be pulling it apart and changing the head gasket I hope!!!
Sorry to hear that Mike. Hope it's nothing major.

my new best 1.24 60 with UPR uppers and lowers stock gt springs qa1 double adjustable rear and s qa1 single adjustable up front. 3300lbs still more in it front springs 200lbs BBF on NOS. powerglide and 3.90 gears bolt in 9 inch ford rear. shocks in the front set full stiff going to put limiters on it and hit it harder hopefully shooting for 118 60 foot.

Are you going to build your limiters or buy them? I can tell you that they have to be well built and not all of these big name companies products are in this department. Ask our board HeRo what my car looked liked when one of these "pro-built" limiters fails. HAHA
Also, with my upping the power I am having a hard time sixty footing now. We have the power but need to change gear to get wheel speed since we can't use bars most of the time to help in that area. We are going to 3.50's from our current 3.89's to help increase wheel speed. We killed our last set of slicks last weekend so we had to turn the boost controller down to get down the track. 5.31 at 141mph with only a 1.32 sixty foot. I figure with the changes this winter that we should be in the 1.19-1.20 range and in the low 4.90's at 145-147 by next season.

I made my own limiters welded chasis tabs to the front frame rails and used the sway bar mount on the lower controll arm as mounting points. I used grade 8 bolts washers and nuts and some chain from lowes i think its at least 5/16 or 3/8.

that will work. Just check them often for the links stretching. Ours was a cable type and the tab broke that it was attached to because the holes were not drilled in the centers. dented the heck out of my fender and now the paint is chipping off.

............or anyone else.
Be real specific on what you had to do to get your car to 60 foot mid 1.30's or better. I'm down to 1.42 sixties. I invested some $ into single adj struts w/160 springs, single adj rear shocks, running OEM stock V-8 rear springs, upper control arm relocation kit, double adj lower arms. Want better and know I can get better but not sure where to turn on a stock suspension set up and what I already have......

Re: 28x10.5 SS Guys...What are you 60 footing?
we figured out our gearing was all wrong. didnt have enough wheel speed for the traction available. Or course we use all stock mounting points with double adjustable uppers and lowers, anti-roll bar, dbl adjustable rear shocks, and locked down front end. went low 1.20's with that.
the last ss stang we did went a best of 1.18 now with all the same rear stuff on 275's with a lot less horsepower.
I'm not familiar with the weight ratings of the stock rear springs to help with that though.

Thats the direction I'm headed to for now....currently it has 3.73's and I have a 4.10 that will get put in before I head back out. I want to try that first and only do 1 thing at a time and see what happens, then I'll move on to the next thing, just trying to get a game plan together to know what the "next thing" ought to be.
Thanks for your reply...what do you mean by a locked down front end?

Limiters. We have to or we cant control wheel stands down track. Probably a band aid but it works for us. You most likely need the travel but with added power may look into limiters more.
We went the other way on gears but with the current torque converter technology we are rethinking the gears.

Jokes aside, seems like the Proformance is the best piece out there. Plenty of guys goin deep in the 4's with them. Gives you room to grow as well.
