Re: Gear change update
Well I went tonight and I still had the 3.91s in but switched to a C6 with a standard gear ratio. Well the car picked up it went to a 9.728 at
138.33 mph. I was shifting at 7k went thru the traps at 6600 right about there. It was a good night. I will try the 4.30s in another week and see where it goes. Tore

Tore wrote:I have had a terrible time with this 64 Falcon I bought. I couldnt get it to run any faster than the 10.20s 122-125 mph. I did change the stall on the converter over the winter. This was the same drivetrain that was in my Blue 71 Cobra Torino. We swapped out fuel pumps, ignitions, Etc . I was really disgusted and pissed off. I have never struggled so much with a car.
I also posted on here about a low ratio gear set in a C6 and some said it would hurt me but I couldnt understand why it worked good in the Torino and not the Falcon.
Blake thru up a post about a situation and alot of people responded and they said it would hurt the times. So what the heck I had a set of 3.91 gears set. This was my easiest thing to change. Well I went from 10.20s to 9.87 just by swapping the gears. My best last week was 9.87 130.00 miles per hr. I had 4.30s with a 32" tall tire. SO I have pulled the low ratio tranny out and am in the process of putting in a standard gear ratio tranny and racing this Friday. I will let you know how I make out. So I guess you can gear to low.

Re: Gear change update
Yes thats the track. It has a real long shutdown. I was told that was an Air BAse back in the late 40s. The shutdown needs to be worked on a little but its a very nice place. Had 3 guys come and ask me if I had a Ford engine in the Falcon. Alot of Chevy's there and ricers. Wheres a Scud missle when you need it

Will find out Sat. I have an 1150 I want to put on but all the testing I am doing has been with the 1050 so we will stick with that.

Re: Gear change update
keep in mind if you go to a different track, NYIRP has always MPH'd better for me then other tracks in the area.

Re: Gear change update
I doubt you will see any change with the rear gear change. if you go to the same track. It may lose a little mph.

Great!
Excellent results! Glad to hear when something works out. I think you should skip the 4.30's and put the 4.10's in it. That will save me some testing . I'm anxious to hear what that 1150 does too, but get that gear situation ironed out first. Thanks for posting the results.

Have to wait and see.

Re: Gear change update
Tore did you ever get results on the gear change or switching to the 1150? I'm making the switch back to the 2.46 low and I'm running 4.10s.
