Vacuum Pump Check
Hello all,
I installed a vacuum pump and now I want to check to see how much vacuum it's pulling. how and where do I hook up a vacuum gauge? How do I know how much vacuum is best for my engine. Do I check it on a dyno?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Re: Vacuum Pump Check
There should be no crankcase ventilation anywhere. Make an adapter from a PCV hole or something similar on your valvecover, attach the vacuum gauge. Never run more than 10" vaccum on a BBF. You may need a release valve something similar to what Moroso sells.
And yes it is best to setup on a dyno.
There it is in a nutshell! Bret

Vacuum Pump Check
Thanks bret. Yes, I do have the relief valve on the other valve cover so I can adjust it. I've heard the stories of what could happen if you run more than 10" on a BBF. What if the engine makes more power with more than 10"? Is there something I can change that will help it live longer if I do run more than 10"?
Thanks again,
Rob

Vacuum Pump Check
One last question... at what RPM do you check the reading? I'm guessing in the upper range as if you were running at the track?
Thanks!
Thanks!
