lil 504 Iron head
Was a home scratch build. Small roller cam 230ish/240 duration 650 lift, C9VE heads ported w/bigger valves, intake matched ported, stock crank, alum rods, Forged Dished pistons around 9:8:1 compression, stock block. First time out this past weekend after correcting a few issues from the original build. Car went from 10.60's to a whopping 10.16 @ 133mph. I'm completely shocked. I sit 3150lb with me in the car. I'm cheesing right now... ............GOD BLESS THE BIG BLOCK FORD!!!!!!!!

Thats a good question.....I'm fond of the PG myself. I have 3 friends including my father who all run a C4....great tranny with great results. I would say it's more fun on a all out street application but they work. I like shifting 1 time and thats the only reason why I run a powerglide.

Re: lil 504 Iron head
and this motor is running off a 4150 carb set-up. I still wonder if a 4500 carb would help this motor or if it wouldnt make a difference

You can get away with the converter, gear etc not being quite right with a 3 speed.....a glide it better be spot on. I know in a higher hp combo the glide wins hands down, in this application since your already there I'd spend the c4 money on more power and be even more ahead of the game................

I'm happy with where I am now to be honest.....I think if I put a higher stall converter in the car, it will pick up. My mph tells me alot

Because when you make your rotating assembly lighter it's a lot easier on the crank. Plus lighter means faster. My bob weight is just as close to a sbc in comparison.

Re: lil 504 Iron head
SOme people have a bad experience with them but if you keep yourself disciplined on knowing you have alum rods in your motor by letting them warm before wrapping the motor......best rod you can use IMO. I drive my car on the street all the time with them. Just let the temp warm a little before leaving the house.
