EGR removal?
Hi all,
Well, because I am a glutton for punishment, I decided to remove the functional quiet exhaust from my daily driver 93 F250 4x4 and replace it with a chunk of 3" pipe and a single Flowmaster 2 chamber (one half of my old dual exhaust setup from the plow truck). My question is.........what should I do with the now open piece of pipe that I assume goes to the EGR? I SawZalled the pipe off at the cat, then undid the hose clamp upstream a bit to get the dangling pipe off the truck. It then occurred to me that the computer might get grouchy about not having catalytic converter air blowing up it's skirt. It doesn't seem to affct the truck a whole lot (no angry lights on the dash, anyway), although frankly, it DOES smell really rich....odd for an EFI machine, I would think. So........plug the hose coming from the engine? Re-attach the system to the new exhaust somehow?
Some days, it occurs to me that I'm not the coldest beer in the fridge.
Thanks,
Pete

Re: EGR removal?
Seems to me you are talking about the air injection tube to the center of the cat correct?
The EGR valve's supply pipe comes off of the exhaust manifold.
Pre OBD 2 vehicles dont get too freaked out when the thermactor air injection is disabled though the ecm may set a code I dont believe it is a fault that will trigger the check engine light.
Re: EGR removal?
Yep, it's on the front side of the cat. That makes sense....I just asumed it was EGR, but my old truck EGR was on the manifolds. Woo hoo! Thanks!!

Re: EGR removal?
Pete I put a peacan limb in mine to plug it off at the top where it runs back up the back of the engine where the rubber hose hooks up that went to the air pump/smog pump.
