A good machinist/welder could fix that easily.

Shane, I'm thinking that at .040" overbore and zero deck it would be usable.
Anyone else have input?

I wouldn't mess with that block. Those hammer blow marrs are very deep, and I don't think welding and machining would be worth it when these blocks are so plentiful.
Just my opinion....

Depends on how far out the mark is, almost looks like a big bore gasket might seal it ok.

If it was mine, I would get tanked, checked for cracks, and if it was okay - I would "cook it" for a while, weld it up with nickle rod, let it cool slowly, and get it checked for cracks again. If it's all good, I wouldn't be affraid to go ahead and build it. What was the story for it being in it's present condition - destructive testing with a welder's slag hammer?? If you weren't so far away, I would give you some money and buy it on pure speculation.

The old block was gave to me about 13yrs agp the guy had left it out side.. The reason for the marks on the deck suface is from me with a 3 pound hammer trying to get the piston to move..
