EMC Engines After The Glory
What happens to most of these EMC engines after the competition? Do they end up in cars or are they mostly just built for that?
I see the winner gets all tore down for mag pics.
Now that they test for avg power, they are prolly more usefull in a street/race car.
Thanks for the info and GOOD LUCK!!

Re: EMC Engines After The Glory
A lot get sold and used in street/strip cars but, most are torn down to use the parts in some other builds.
No matter how good they may be, a lot of people don't trust them for some reason and that is utterly rediculous. OR, people think the engine they are building in their own mind is certainly going to be a better piece in their oppinion.

More than the winners get torn down, any motor they think will make a good mag artical gets the full
photo treatment.

Bill Trovato's engine comes to mind.
I'm thinkin the Boss and the SOHC will get some media attention, regardless of their results.
I do think they'll both be strong though.

A friend of mine has been running the MPG Heads 2003 or 2004 entry for the past 4 years in his bracket truck.

I guess folks figger with all the dyno time they are all wore out!! Yeah right. I would love to have a proven engine like that, its all nice and broken in and everything!!
I thought for a long time that these were like "qualifying engines" in nascar, only ment to live for a short time. But that would be an expensive game to play!!

I saw on Jon Kaase's site where he was selling both of his 2008 engines. Don't know if he ever sold them tho.

Well I guess Blake, Charlie, Lem and I wore mine smack out then with 47 pulls on it in one weekend, huh?

Wow, 47 in one weekend???? You boys were busy
A dyno pull is almost the same as a dragstrip pass isn't it?
I guess they have to last......"To finish first, first you have to finish!!"

Re: EMC Engines After The Glory
the way I look at it Bill is it is broke in good and I know it will handle what I give it now.... If you have never done a dyno pull you should,, it will bring goose bumps over you and knowing it is your baby hanging it out there, watching it load and then take off for the top of the pull..... Awsome feeling....

At the first BBF Bash, Adney had one of his EMC engines in his GTO

That sounds like something I'm gonna have to do
It's a lot easier to tune there than in the car anyway!!

Re: EMC Engines After The Glory
A dyno pull is only like a drag strip run IF you merely have one gear and don't do ANY burnout.
A three speed trans is like doing 3 dyno pulls in one drag strip run plus another for the burnout, then driving it back to your pit again. (Unless you tow it).

That kinda what I was thinking. I can't understand why someone would be scared of an EMC engine.

I was witness to a dyno thrash of 27 pulls in 12 hours. That was fun!! Too bad it didn't make the entire season after all that

Are these dyno's fed a constant supply of city water or something?? How do y'all keep the water cool? I would think with that many big power pulls it would be boiling the hell out of the water.

The supply tank we have at the shop I work at took all day long to fill. 9 hrs of the faucet running. I'll see if I can't get a picture of it tomorrow.
I tend to think of a dyno pull as harder on a motor than being in the car due to the fact that it loads the engine in a way the car cannot do. But I've been wrong before. Once. When I thought I was wrong, but I wasn't... lol, kidding of course...

Thats a big ole tank!!
I guess there is diff types of pulls too, just straight acceleration (xxx rpm's per sec) and stepped ones too. The stepped would have the engine under max load longer I suppose.....
