Re: more progress!
we may start a "hat"club. i got a little more done tonight but my ass is drag'n.i pulled a z-71 frame today that had the left front wheel touching the rocker, about 6"short on the wheelbase.it sucked but it's done.then cut the grass, big yard,it sucked too but it's done.then i did redrill the belt drive mount for the new enderle pump and got it hung on the car.maybe it'll fire off this weekend.56Tbird wrote:I think you need to change your name to Cool80 now. Re: more progress!
I hope it's easier on fuel than mine!! It starts really good ,but A gallon of fuel is gone in an instant!! The throttle response on mine is insane too Cool. Just touch the throttle and it hits 3000RPM. I love it , just hope it'll be faster and run some #'s.

Re: more progress!
i let it run today when i first fired it up so i could find out if the mutha#@$%^* intake was gona leak again at the front of the head.after it ran a minute i pulled the shut off so it'd heat up,only got to 180,and it did burn about a gallon.i got the moroso vacuum pump on too.i put a tin plate in the bottom of the intake, where it was cut out,and at 5"it pulls it down some.56Tbird wrote:I hope it's easier on fuel than mine!! Re: more progress!
That engine is looking good! In regards to your leak, some of those early TFS intakes had a mismatch at the water crossover to cylinder head mating juncture. I remember we did some welding on one of them in order for there to be enough meat for the intake gasket to cover and seal. I can't remember if it was David Willingham's manifold or Ken Herbert's manifold that we welded on in that area. Next time it's off, lay a new gasket up to the manifold and study the water crossover passage.

Re: more progress!
i remember you said that when i had pic's of it on here while i was working on it.this one was cut out in the front for some reason and even ground on in a few places.i unbolted it and lifted the front up so i could see it and it looked like the thin part where the stud should have been did'nt line up.i used some good old yellow glue on it. i did have a look at it with a gasket but was only looking at the ports and never niticed the crossover as long as it dont leak inside! thanks Charliec.evans wrote:That engine is looking good! Re: more progress!
I have a JAZ 3 gal, without the foam it holds just over 2.5 overflowing. I tow to the lanes and drive it back................if you get stuck behind some jackass towing the car back you will run out..................for this reason at the KOV race I just towed mine back as well.
For sure get one of those gas primer bars you can idle around on and build heat..................good for putting the car away after your done for the night as well.

Re: more progress!
it may use more now than it did with the toilet.i never had any trouble with fuel and i drive it anywhere it goes,to the line and back to the truck, but i always pull the shutoff out a little so it stays clean and heats up good.richter69 wrote:I have a JAZ 3 gal, without the foam it holds just over 2.5 overflowing. You just be sure to have that thing tuned by the Bash...that way when I swipe it off your car and put it on mine, I won't have to mess with it much.
