Dry sumps and vacuum...
I've read our engines/pumps do not like more than 7 to 10. Does all that fly out the window when running a dry sump system? And if so how much do they like? And also how much can a single stage of the pump pull?

Wet Sump engines don't like more then 10 psi of Vacume. Dry sump motors love as much Vacume as you can get . My Motor has 5 psi at idle and 20 psi at 5000 rpm's.
I have a 5 stage pump 3 in the pan one from the heads, on my motor along with a 3 vane Vacume pump. I like not having any leaks after a run.

Where is the moroso pulling vac from?

Most are in the valve cover...I'd vote for putting it in the floor of the intake manifold on a bbf.

That is what I thought too...until I tried it. I tried 2 different locations in the valley of my TFS tunnel ram (A head) and got way too much oil sucked in to the vacuum system. I even tried making a nifty little oil separator device to make the valley location work. No dice on it either.
I also got too much (vented oil right at the end of a dyno pull) when tapped in to a Star baffle in one cover. I split the "intake" for my vacuum system to pull from both valve covers then to a "T" fittting. Problem fixed...and worked flawlessly for 4 seasons.
I also use a Star vent tank.
I use a Moroso 4 vane Enhanced Design pump spinning at about 65% crank speed (as I recall). Fresh engine...17 inches during the run. Dry sump...

Did you build a baffle and attach it to the underside of the manifold?
Re: Dry sumps and vacuum...
We pull from the floor of my t ram (two Places) with the Peterson Wet/Vac pump and have no issues. 5-10 inches of vacuum.

No, but I have a picture of nothing.

It took me a while to find one of them. My Desktop Computer is in the shop being fixed, hard to find stuff on the backup hard drive.

That sure beats nothing!

Some guy up there in Blue Grass country I think But it works very well, after 10 passes it might fill up the plastic top of a spray bomb paint can, with what looks like a milk shake.
Re: Dry sumps and vacuum...
IMHO I think how much oil you're sucking up depends on how well your block vents are working for you. With those big azz holes there and all that oil pouring down there, some of it has to be wrapping around the cam and thrown back up in to the valley.

Doug thanks for posting..........I forgot about your polished lifter valley...great job.

Thanks Lem! Off topic, but I actually did that on the advice of an Engineer friend at work. He showed me a photo from an electron microscope that was a cross section on a piece of cast aluminum. It looked like a mountain range magnified that big. He said this is were cracks would start under enough load. Smooth out the peaks and valleys and it will be less prone to cracking. Of coarse he said do the entire block , maybe on the next one.

Nevermind...I found it.
That's some pretty $hit incorporated into that manifold. That red thing looks similar to a part of mom's pressure cooker! I do wonder how the vacuum pump will work with the intake bolts loose? ... ...
