Re: Main Bearing Clearence's?
OK set the bearing up sunday night to .003 on the mains. so right now I'm re-cleaning all the Mains and Crank and getting ready to drop the crank in and torquer down and then the rods. I already file fit all the rings and everything is laid out on the bench wait to go together. So I see if we get .0025-.003 on the rods.

Lake Speed Jr. is Joe Gibbs Racing's main oil guy and I spoke w/him at the Seminar. I talked to him about bearing clearances. He was saying that the days of critical bearing clearances can now be controlled w/todays much improved oil/viscosities.

Kristina Lawyer is selling the Tech seminar dvd that has Lake speed jr. talking about oils. If the audio is good and clear it will be good to listen to him talk about this subject. If not I have his card and #. You can email/call him.

OK mic'ed put the crank at 1.196 and then put the bearing in the rod and torqued it down and it was a 1.198-1.199. So I would say .0025 would be the end result. As for oil I will be switching to 10-40 or 10-30 just for grins this year. Its pretty cold in the start of the season around here.

Been on the run all day. OK let straighten this out
Cranks journal 2.196
Rod 2.198-2.199
I know I dont have the right tools to measure them but this is the closest I could get. Used a 12" long slide calipher. (spelling)
