Re: Light weight calipers
I thought I would give y'all and update on the Racecraft spindle and Strange brake installation. The Strange brakes that Racecraft used to go with their Ultralight spindles are originally designed for the Strange struts, Racecraft drilled their spindle back plate to match the hole pattern to mount the caliper bracket. But the bolts that come with the Strange brake kit to mount the caliper bracket will not work with the Ultralight spindle. So I had to do a search to find something suitable. I could have just used some 3/8-16 x 3/4" grade 8's but I didn't want the threaded portion in the hole of the brackets. Over time I'm sure it would have elongated the holes. I found some ARP Pro series bolts that are for a Chevy pressure plate, the upper bolt I had to shorten a little because of where it penetrates the spindle back plate (white arrow in the second photo), but other than that they work great. I think the extra hole may be for the Aerospace bracket if you use those. I do like the way they lowered the steering arm. I can do away with the bump steer spacers and bolt, but I will have to use a different size rod end, but that's not a real problem. I'm going to get some scales and find out just how much weight this is saving. It has to be a bunch that cast iron caliper and rotor I took off was one heavy sucker.
Re: Light weight calipers
Looking good Doug. Might give Racecraft a call. I've tried getting in touch with PA and haven't gotten a call back. I've already got a k-member from them so I figured I'd use their spindles too.
What's the rack drop on your k-member? Mine's been dropped 2".

Re: Light weight calipers
I forgot to add that the tie rod is now almost perfectly level with the lower control arm, better than it was before with the bump steer kit.

It turns out that Racecraft has quite a few options on the rod ends for different R&P's. Ordered the set I needed today.
