Connecting rod casting numbers?
I have a couple questions on casting numbers on connecting rods 429 460 motors. I have been inspecting the inside of my motor since the oil pan is off i found a couple of things interesting. Seems as though i have two different casting numbers on my connecting rods. The numbers are as follows dooe a and d8ve a. The two different casting of connecting rods look identical to me. Could this be original to my motor or could it have been basterdized at some point?. If not i don't see why ford wouldn't just have one casting number for all the rods in the motor instead of two. All the connecting rod caps have the casting c9ae 6210b. And it is also a dove a block u4 on the crank. Seems like there is also 68 and 69 parts in the motor. Could i be wrong? i think someone might have put different parts in this motor at some point in time. Sorry for all my stupid questions just curious is all.

It does seem odd that a D0 block would have D8 rods (parts) unless of course they are replacements. I doubt there would be any problems with the D8 rods, maybe a bit of weight difference! I suppose you could check the rod bearing(s) for a Ford logo or part number to confirm their originality.
