Casting numbers Empty Casting numbers

Well, gonna tear down this engine to get to the machine shop. Have a few casting number questions. The casting number is a D1VE-A2B. What was last year for 429?

I think somewhere in 1973 was the last year for the 429. This link to block info will provide some information about Ford's revision numbers.

The Heavy truck / industrial 429 was used right up to 1998, I believe. It replaced all the FE truck engines in 1982.

The D1VE casting number was used from 1971 till 1978.

Thanks Randy! I had heard that also, just never knew it to be for sure so I didn't bring it up. I had also heard some 429's may have made it into early 1974's.

Yes it's done all the time

been making more than that on my D1ve block and offset ground ford cast crank for the last 6 years. hurt a piston or 2 that needed to sleeve some cylinders, but the rest has been running strong!
