Casting numbers
Well, gonna tear down this engine to get to the machine shop. Have a few casting number questions. The casting number is a D1VE-A2B. What was last year for 429?

I think somewhere in 1973 was the last year for the 429. This link to block info will provide some information about Ford's revision numbers.

The Heavy truck / industrial 429 was used right up to 1998, I believe. It replaced all the FE truck engines in 1982.
The D1VE casting number was used from 1971 till 1978.

Thanks Randy! I had heard that also, just never knew it to be for sure so I didn't bring it up. I had also heard some 429's may have made it into early 1974's.

been making more than that on my D1ve block and offset ground ford cast crank for the last 6 years. hurt a piston or 2 that needed to sleeve some cylinders, but the rest has been running strong!
