Fluid dumping out of the glide!
Did some chassis dyno testing today and everything went fine. Went to load it on the trailer and I was alittle off point so put it in reverse to straighten up and drove onto the trailer. There was a large puddle of trans fluid in the area that I put it in reverse. Got back to the shop, put it in reverse to pull off the trailer and POURS fluid everywhere. So bad the exhaust made it cover the entire undercarriage of the car from the trans past the rear end. Put it on the lift and had a buddy watch, hit transbrake in park, nothing. Hit transbrake in reverse and the fluid seems to be dumping from the trans brake solenoid. Pulled the solenoid and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I'm not a good high pressure blower but couldn't blow air by mouth through the solenoid with the solenoid in either position. The solenoid seemed fairly snug when I took it out. Any thoughts???

It's been an interesting winter! 1 problem after another. I have caught myself more than once say I should have just sent the convertor off and left the rest alone .

Re: Fluid dumping out of the glide!
Seriously though, any of you think even if there is an issue with the trans brake solenoid that it would have the pressure at that port to push that much fluid out that fast? I was just frusturated tonight and didn't investigate/troubleshoot too much, thought it was just best to get away from it for the evening and start again in the morning. Just wanted to see if you experienced fellars had some advice or direction.

Re: Fluid dumping out of the glide!
my glide has 275 line psi so i'd think it would soak your ass lol. it'll all work out, just get it cleaned up and find the problem.maybe its not cracked.

Is there an o-ring on the solenoid?

The reverse piston area of the case is one of the Glide's inherent weak spots. If the solenoid was loose it'd only dribble fluid out as there's no pressure at the point. Higher line pressures and excessive reverse clutch clearances can contribute to the case cracking at that area.

Thanks fellas. Today I fired it up, put it in low, nothing. Hit the trans brake and fluid pouring from the solenoid. Just popped another one in. I think she'll be fine.

You were right. Case was cracked. Pulled it out, had a local guy put my guts in another case, had it buttoned up at midnight, gonna be at the track at 9am. Good times!
