C6 fluid help please
Following an "incident" today which tore a 1" hole in my trans pan I had to put Dexron 3 in it, There was no other available to get me home. The 2-3 shift is now flaring. Is the slippy GM stuff trashing my trans and will it save with a fluid change?

Dex III and Mercon are the same, I doubt the issues are from the fluid, unless you had some really thick stuff in there like 30wt.

No Mercon, it had Type F in it. It's an old stock unit with a shift kit. Worked fine until today.

F will be a little more grabby, I cant see it making that big a difference, but one might put F back in and see what happens.

Is it possible that the "incident" caused a problem, and not just the different fluid?

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Pan still has a drip from an crack I missed so it's coming back off today. Fresh F type and band adjust.
Again, thanks for the help.
