Thats a damn good guess
Thats a good guess.
I gotta work late but I hope to get intake off and the dizzy will come out.
I checked the rockers and their perfect. If I can't see anything with the bore scope out it comes.

Have you checked valve lash? If the lifter was broken in the roller area the lash "should" be looser on the base of the lobe with the broken roller compared to the other valves....

That's what i was thinking also.Tore, what kind of distibutor MSD or Duraspark?I had a stop collar break on a Duraspark and think it kind of looked like that.Although that was a couple years back and i'm older and probably suffer from CRS[can't remember shit]syndrone.

Thats a good idea, I didn't make it to the barn last night I had to stay at work. Hope to leave at noon today so I can tear into it.

Pulled the intake, nothing wrong with the lifters, Dist. is ok. Gonna get it up on the lift and take the bore scop and look in the oil pan. Without doubt engine is coming out.

Run a magnet across the bottom of the pan and see if there's anything else in there.

I tried that already and didn't find anything else. I am gonna try that scope later and give it a whirl. Hell I will be able to give colononoscopys here in awhile. Come on up Rick and get em while there hot. Tore

If you are running rocker arm studs, check the bottom of each adjuster. Of course an enormous mount of valve lash should appear as well, unless it went un-noticed the last service.

Re: Broken washer in pan
Well I breezed work early and went home and pulled engine and put it on the stand. Pulled the pan and couldn't find one thing broken or missing. everything looked good as far as I could tell without pulling the timing cover.
I have another shortblock I can swap my heads to until I can get the shortblock in question apart.
