Do the rules state it has to be bought from the aftermarket? If not build what you need and make it bolt in. No way I'd drop 4k for the stuff you listed...

no it doesnt ....... no doubt i would never spend that much either ..... the only reason i would change my existing k-member would be for more pan clearance and getting a lighter piece ..... i dont have that at all for this upgrade .....

Re: my budget x275 build
for goodness sake just wait to call Dave Z. I just bought the whole setup a few months ago. It's a cheaper than Racecraft.
http://www.teamzmotorsports.net/Mustang_K_member_p/tzm-olkm-kit.htm
-he also builds caster camber plates that weld in
-the only thing you would have to get from racecraft or another company would be drop spindles.

I like that set up. Being able to remove the pan in the car can be a real plus sometimes too!whatbumper wrote:for goodness sake just wait to call Dave Z. I just bought the whole setup a few months ago. It's a cheaper than Racecraft.

Re: my budget x275 build
Getting a 2" drop k would allow you to lower the nose of the engine which will keep the nose of the car down too.
I got a 2" drop Pinto rack deal from Jason @ PA last year. Was a mocked up k-member he let got for cheap. I wish I would've waited a few more months and gotten the one from Dave. I already had the arms, fixed plates, rack, etc... It would've let me run my full length pan I had and lower the engine even more to get the driveline angle straightened out some more. But even with the 2" drop rack deal my engine is a ton lower than most other BBF Fox bodies I've seen. I don't need a 6" cowl anymore to clear the carb. The pan is smack on the rack. The rack sits higher than the bottom k-member tube too. My 1050/Victor combo WITHOUT any spacer is lower than the highest point of the cowl...

Re: my budget x275 build
The older style k mem, like D&D QA1 ect are a PITA with headers. The Newer style are wider were they attach to the car. In the last 8 years I've worked on atleast 20 fox bodies for other people, the only one I have not seen are Race Craft or the new Afco K mem. Team Z and PA are the ones that fit best to me. Unless you have a jig table and alot time, making one would be a pain in the ass!

Re: my budget x275 build
I was thinking the same thing but they don't weigh much and "street" cars look better with them IMO. Good luck man I'd like to see another hard charging bbf powered car out there.Barney wrote:I can't believe it still had the back seat in it.
