my budget x275 build
I would like to thank everyone who has help me in the past get the car were it is today There are so many folks from this board that need to be thank for there help. Here is a list who has helped me along the way and who is helping now on the current :
Phillip @ Oakley Motorsports
Steve and Paul @ Induction-Solutions
Lenny @ Ultimate Convertor Concepts
Lem and Shawn @ BF Evans Ford
Keith @ KFM Motorsports
Bob Hardison
Dan Hobbs
Charlie Evans
My wife Julia and family for there continued support
and anybody ive forgotten thank you !!!!
I have finally started my new build several areas of concerns : the chassis , the electrical and the fuel .
The new engine will be a Oakley Motorsports A460 deal , with an Induction-Solutions fogger. I will be ditching the digiset/relays and going with nms1000 and the digital 7 to handle all of the ignition and tuning for this deal . On the fuel side i will we ditiching the way i have the reg. on the side and doing a single fuel log in with the reg built in.
Ive gutted the car this weekend and will be losing some weight but that will allow us to put ballast were it needs to be. I will be posting pics of the progress. On the chassis side the car had been in the low 20's in the 60' , as we know thats not going to cut in small tire racing , we are going to focus on stiffing the ladder bar attactments to the cage and add a few bars to get it up to spec , we are going to add some bars going out the front from the dash bars to the framerail , and then some footwell/trans bars also upgrading to a better ladder bar and diagonal .
there will be other areas that will have to be upgraded no doubt but this will get us started in the right direction.
some of the stuff removed this weekend from the car :
will be rewiring the car and removing all the old harnesses , plus adding the necessary bars to help stiffen the chassis
will be removing the old regulators , and adding bars to once again stiffen the front frame rails, and will end up cutting out part of the factory strut towers

the x275 class was 4.70 in the finals ....the 4.28 was in the outlaw class on whole differnet tire ...not 275 plus they are not limited to 588 " ......but no doubt the x275 class is and will be a hard one to be competitive but we will give it a try

Nick, I have set up 4 bbf in fox bodys. It's hard to beat the skinny kid off set motor mid plate. Team z 2" drop k member and 1" shorter a arms set the car down nice. If you go with skinny kid set up you'll have to get a 2" drop in you in your k member.

2" drop...does that mean a guy can put a real oil pan on the engine at that point?
Re: my budget x275 build
not really, but it does allow you to lower the engine and helps with a number of engine placement head scratchers.Lem Evans wrote:chuck wrote:bruno wrote:cool40 wrote:put a real midplate in that biotch.....

Lem there are 2 K-members avalible that i know of that there would be zero oil pan issues , they move the hoop and the rack in front of the oil pan location ........ just to switch to that k-member requires a long expensive parts list Dave from team z is out of town this weekend and will speak to him on Monday to see what he suggests i know when i spoke to Racecraft it was :
1979-1993 Mustang Stiletto Race K-Member Kit
300116 "Ultra Lites" 4130 2" Drop Spindles
3212TA00 79-93 Mustang 1'' Short Rod End A-Arms
333106 Stiletto Rack and Pinion
333190 Racecraft Inc. Light Weight Tie Rod Kit
333162 Stiletto Rack Adaptor with Plated Spacers
BK3370 Mustang Race K-Member Bolt Kit
BK8000 Stiletto Rack Bolt Kit
BU7000 Segmented Spacer Kit
1,854.95 1,854.95
1979-2004 Mustang Front Tube Stiletto K-Member 695.00 695.00
Tow Hook for K-Member 25.00 25.00
2 Tie Downs for K-Members 50.00 50.00
Front Tube K-Member Mounting Kit 16.00 16.00
1990-1993 Mustang Steel Weld In Caster Camber Plates 179.00 179.00
Stiletto Pro Series Steering Kit 216.00 216.00
Strange Light Weight 4 Piston Brake Kit for Ultra Light
Spindles 5 on 4.5 Bolt Circle
687.50 687.50
Shipping & Handling 222.27 222.27
$3,945.72
i could be wrong but he said i needed all the above to make the change for the "outlaw k-member" which at that point would be no oil pan restraints

10-4 on lowering the engine. If the pan could get only 1/2" of the 2" it'd let some good things happen.
