I have a 521 with scat cast crank ,2 bolt block jon kaase heads, comp kaase 726 lift cam,diamond 36cc dish pistons .My question is how much more can it take It's in a 2000 mustang 3.73 gear 275 pros 9.90,s on motor on spray 8.93 150 1/8 is 1.29 60' 5.712 122.68 car weight is 3300# that's at bristol,tnn

The crank would be first to go.2bolt blocks are tuff as long as the tune is good.

Rods and crank are the short fuse in the combination, and I only mention rods, because OP didn't. 2 bolt blocks, pretty damn stout as long as the RPM is kept down.

well let me ask in a different way is 8.90s' safe It will go 8.60s' I don't want to hurt it before I build a good engine this winter .Right now it is smooth and runs great for what it is

if you gona build a new one this winter then thrash it! Cool its hard to say what a cast crank can take. stay on the safe side with the tune and maybe you wont find out.

If it is a motor sport 2.5 inch crank pin cast crank made by scat, you probably wont break it.

I may be wrong on who made that crank for Ford. But it has a good bit of overlap, and the cast Scat cranks are very tuff.

It's for sale . Will trade on block and heads . Would prefer new parts . Will be at Bristol oct 5 with car. I have to run Willard kinzers black corvette. He's  85 years old but dam he's good. My only chance is he will be late or red light. It's a best of 2 out of three . We raced last night and I red lighted ,after that someone broke and oiled down his side of the track. Race was put off to oct, 5. So I may put a nx port nos on it this coming week. Because we will start where we ended .  Go to racethis on face book for pictures and video

the engine braking is not the problem ,its the 150 mph with oil on the tires, yes I know the guard rail will slow it down.

That's a nice running Mustang. It WILL run probably 2 tenths faster away from Bristol.

come to Bristol oct 5 heads up racing, there's a few 760 cars. Most are mid to high 8's. You will be paired to your best time 1 tenth breakout . Last week 9.40 was cutoff out off the 16

Bristol is a beautiful facility for sure. The only thing I have against it is the air for racing. Sounds like a fun time,Good luck;)

yes it is bad but everyone has the same problem,so it's not just one person. My 8.93 recalculated to 8.60 with good air. IT recalculated to 3800 feet

I have a scat crank 514 that i just started spraying with a 73 jet. Plan to hit it with 93 After a tighter converter goes in. Good to know they hold up. Do the smaller stroke cranks hold up better? Mine is 4.15

Car is flying. With that big of a dish I'm assuming the compression is pump gas friendly. Do you street drive it?

yes drive it to the track pump gas. 3.73 gear 2.75 m/t pro's 3300 lbs . 9.90 on motor at Bristol which is 2-4 tenths slower. When I first went to the track they didn't believe it was pump gas ,but one person in a Camaro saw me at the gas pumps. 8.93 150.8 with racing fuel and nitrous.

so with that being said about how fast you are running! would that be the hp limit for that crank? from all the info Iam getting from this site and other sites the scat 9000 cranks are probably good for a low 9 sec to high 8sec car which is more than most are looking for! but for anything above this you are going to need a forge crank no question asked!study

iam very impressed with what you have done with a #3300lb car! look at it on youtube and I like what I seen from the video! iam building one a little bigger but with the same interals! much run lighter car to 2700lbs. so I should be able to run the times iam looking for based on your car and times! thanks a million!bounce
