Re: Decided Not to Back Half the Torino
I think that Torino's gonna be "sick" when you guys get it done... I agree with Jon, and Blake. Ladder bars done right will get the job done... My old racer, The Banana, had ladder bars also, and once I got it dialed in, it would 60' in the high 1.30's ... (1.37 being the best ) And it never had adjustable shocks on it, just the std QA1 rear shocks... The only thing adjustable was spring tension/ride height... That thing far exceeded any of my expectations, running a best of 9.70 @ 137 in the 1/4 and 6.17 @ 113 in the 1/8...
Good Luck with it Dave, with Jon on board, it'll work, and work well... And as long as you're happy with the result, that's all that matters...

Thanks Doug, I wasn't around when you had the Banana... Was it a Torino?

No, I wish it was a Torino... It was a 1986 F150... It was one of the easiest to drive rigs I've ever driven...

Re: Decided Not to Back Half the Torino
He is right, you might regret if the value goes way up in a few years, buy one already done as a roller. It's kind of a sleeper as fast as it is, with the stock setup. Throw a mini spool in and check your 60 foot, may help, cheep to try. If narrow it go full spool, or Detroit Locker for sure.dfree383 wrote:If you want a race car go buy one, your is way to nice of a street car to cut up.gdog wrote:Now we talkin.......pad and pencil ready to take notes.

If you going to do it, get it over with, can't hook much more than this with big tires.dfree383 wrote:if you are going to do it, 4 link it and do it right.

Yes but what about once it front haved. Buy a Roller save a unmolested beyond return anyway, Classic Antique. Your car though as long as you like it I guess is all that counts.cool40 wrote:ladder bars would be best IMO,for sure with the stock frontend.

I think he can mini tube the Torino with ladder bars and hook what he has, and still look stock.

Re: Decided Not to Back Half the Torino
Build and race what you can afford. Hell most race cars are built 18"s at a time. My Green car started off like that, ran in the 11's then changed some things, tubbed it then 10's, cut old cage out and redo the junk that was in it, low 10's. build new motor and put smaller tires back on it , re do ladder bar deal down in the 9's . Hell cut something apart and redo it because I saw someone else did it a more tasteful way. You get the point. No matter what you got (unless a full blown tube professional car) Your always going to be upgrading something........ 18" at time. Just get friendly with your welder.

Re: Decided Not to Back Half the Torino
Decided against the backhalf idea... Drove to Texas and bought a 65 mustang .. It's a backhalf roller that,s gonna get the 545 and a glide.
