Contact pattern to far out toward the "heel", pinion could be raised (thicker pinion shim) a bit.

interesting, this is the only thing I DID NOT change on the rebuild, have had this 3rd member a lot of years... bunch of runs...LivermoreDave wrote:Contact pattern to far out toward the "heel", pinion could be raised (thicker pinion shim) a bit.

he next one is a complete MARK WILLIAMS aluminum set up.
Re: Carnage!!!! (pics)

Re: Carnage!!!! (pics)
you know the Mark Williams spool and axles have a different pitch to the splines? I would rather use Mosier, beside mark is a D$#K last time I spoke with him....

Re: Carnage!!!! (pics)
I usually prefer a more toe biased drive pattern like this on a trans-brake/power-adder 9310 Pro gear drag combo.
This is because the drive pattern will try to climb the ring gear a given amount (from down at "toe" up towards "center") under loading as more power/greater impact is added. More & more power can equal more & more drive pattern climb. If you start out with a more "street use" centered drive pattern on a drag combo, it's possible it can climb up toward (and even off) the heal of the tooth with enough power.

Re: Carnage!!!! (pics)
I just went through the same thing. Bought the Mark Williams rear and be done with it. If you don't put in a pro gear you only have limited time. I did not buy a strange replacement because they denied grinding the rear pinion support for the street gears to clear. I even had Jeff Strange evolved and they still didn't do a damn thing for me. Even though that support did not break 2 builders here in town would not touch it. even Mark Williams guys didn't really want to touch it as well.
Please call Mark Williams as they just sent out Emails with specials lower than what I paid. you can't beat them and they are the best on the market.
as for the gentleman saying mark was a Dick. There's two sides to every conversation.... just sayin

wont deflect as much as aluminum.
set an alum unit up and see how much a temp change affects the preload etc.

Six one way half a dozen the other.... My steel case has served me well the past 15 years.
You spend a day setting one up in an alum case to get the preload etc nice and smooth, come out the next morning after its cooled off and the things got tight spots in it now......
Buy what you want, makes me no difference...... The weight savings is next to nothing id rather have the stronger case.

Re: Carnage!!!! (pics)
Gear recommendation from you guys, had a 4.56 but all the calculators say to go with 5.29 for the specs and info that I have...

What rpm does the motor like? 4.56 aint a bad gear IMO.
