611 CID Thor Headed Engine Build...
Engine Labs reached out the Mr. Foxwell on this and after getting consent from the customer we agreed to the article. My praises go to Mr. Foxwell for his attention to detail and extensive picture taking. This will be going to the dyno in next week or so.

Beautiful piece.
Just wondering why you stayed with a standard distributor instead of a belt driven?

This started out as a freshen the lower end and put a set of new heads and induction on it. Well the aluminum block was not in good shape along with other parts that the previous shop had used in the engine. So we started with new stuff but used what we could from the old build....distributor, belt drive, engine plate....and.....well... that's it.

He came in for an oil change and you sold him a new truck
It should be noted that the belt & cam retainer bearings, for Danny Bee Drive, Â the were sourced from Lem Evans Technologies
This should be a fun deal.....it's a shame that the Thor heads are no longer in production.

Can their performance be duplicated by the C's?

It's like it has always been....application driven. There are many places that I'd rather have a current C460 deal than a Thor and there are applications that a guy needs a bigger head like a Thor.
Re: 611 CID Thor Headed Engine Build...
I know the Guy whose engine this is, I bought a D0VE block from him a few years ago. If Chris did his magic to this cam like he did to mine a couple of years ago it should make tons of power.

Re: 611 CID Thor Headed Engine Build...
Average piston speed here will be above 110 feet per second so, getting the rings sealing will become the major issue to making consistent power at that elevated RPM.
If that is accomplished, when cammed correctly, this should make some great power and work very well in competition.
I use a lot of Carl's stuff, being that he is less than 2 miles away, and it always makes a lot of power even when the air flow numbers don't look as good as some others.

Didn't know the Thor's where not being produced any more. How does the Profiler head compare.

Thor is the better head.
