2002 axle swap into 92 diesel
I asked before about swaping 79 f250 axles into my 92 but I found a set of 2002 f250 axles lookes like more of a straight forward swap. What do you think anyone ever done it? Are they the same as the 97 super duty?

I don't know what you are doing for wheels, but I believe that the 8 lug bolt pattern changed around 1997. Newer weren't 8 x 6.5" anymore, went metric. Something to think about if you are trying to figure out how much it will cost you.

Can't help you much Bart but, you might take some string and a tape measure to them and get a better Idea. I don't know if you can
call the US without a big bill, but I bet Bronco Salvage and some of the other Big 4X4 outfits know what is involved.

That rearend should be a sterling 10.5 and go right under your ride. The frontend should be a Dana 50 leaf spring deal and will also work with a few mods. The 2005 up f250 had a Dana 60 which IMO would be more desirable.

Hey Bart, I have the 10.5, Dana 50 Excursion axles under my 94 Bronco, it is awesome to ditch the worn out ttb! The spring perches are wider on the super duty axles, I run rear Bronco leaves up front on a custom made cross member, Sky mfg sells real nice mounts for the rear of the front springs, good luck! I'm running 4.56 gears with 35"s and it climbs the trails here in AZ like crazy, love it.

I realize this is a month old. That said:
99-04 spring pad width is about 1/2" wider than 85.5-96, so you'll have to make some adjustments. Dana 50s are fine for mild stuff but at $800... what a rip. If it's indeed a D60 it's about the right price. That year might have come with both IIRC. A ball joint '92-96 axle will run you about that, but as with anything, it depends on what's in it, and when it was rebuilt, if ever. All Superduties are metric and 8x170mm so you'll have to get matching wheels.
'05 and up are the best thing going for the price at the moment, but are all coil sprung axles up to '18. Best buy is the 4.30 geared Super 60 combination with a factory E locker in the 10.5.
My opinion for ease of install is to buy the '85.5-96 set of axles, and buy a sky reverse shackle setup and gain a couple inches of lift while you're at it. It's all bolt in and should keep you happy.
