Tuning and ET ?
Okay , I know I ask some random questions that have a lot of variations , but here goes?
On a 1/8 mile car with new engine and say a safe base tune , and runs mid 6s off the trailer.
What average ET should a person expect to gain with a vehicle running mid 6s when tuned to potential?
In other words the base timing is set low , carb jetting is unknown , launch rpm is is 1000 rpm off of converter stall speed , shift points are 800 to 1000 lower than cam specs recommended.
This is a grudge race car and so I am trying not to give to much info away.
Thanks

With that kind of "conservativeness"....there is still a bunch of power left in it. If he's going mid 6's....say 6.50's - .40's...which equates to about a 10.00 flat to a 10.10 in the 1/4, I'd think that picking up close to 3/10th's is not out of the question when the tuning brings everything up to "full spec".

Depends a lot on that base tune and sweet spot of shift point and launch rpm. Mine is very forgiving on launch rpm. But it will lose almost 3 tenths on a 300 rpm drop on shift point because it gets out of converters range. Just hard to tell untill you turn it up and see what is in there

In the eighth mile ... 3 tenths is not much when you start at 8.50 seconds but, if you begin at 5.00 flat it is a whole lot.
