Aftermarket Aluminum Head That Fits This Description
Make good power and torque on a 521 with flat top pistons (looking for at least 600 HP), maximum RPM of 6000-6500, run on 91 octane California pump gas, corresponding intake able to fit under hood with air cleaner, delivered to my house ready to bolt on for $2500.00.
Is there anything?
As always thanks for any and all replies.

Most all of the USA make stuff does that 600+easy. But, you are eliminating all of the 72cc chamber stuff due to the flat tops/91 oct.

That's kinda what I thought, Lem. I was hoping I may have missed a large chamber head in this category.
I wish the Blue Thunder stuff was still around. They used to have a 100cc chamber option, didn't they?

The Edelbrock 95cc heads are your best bet. In fact I did a similar 545 with a very small hydraulic flat tappet cam that managed 582hp/670tq with out-of-the-box unported heads and an 850 Holley. None of the engine parts been rubbed on and the flat tappet cam was smaaaall. A 600 hp 521 with 95cc Edelbrocks would be easy. With enough effort you could even hit your marks with well modified D3s if you wanted (thanks to the proposed $2500 budget).
The Blue Thunder 100cc heads are a round, open chamber head intended for blower applications. In most cases they are not the first choice for an engine of moderate compression ratio that will be run on straight California pump gas. Just sold a fully polished set of those by the way. They really are a nice cylinder head option to have around.

Thanks Paul. I have a set of Police Interceptor heads I was going to send up to Scotty to work on when I was thinking of going all cast iron but since the initial build began, I figured I'd have a better chance with aluminums to fight off the detonation monster. Plus, aluminum DOE'S look cool.Paul Kane wrote:The Edelbrock 95cc heads are your best bet. Bruce
Edelbrock has a head that will work well with 91 octane gasoline and flat-top pistons.
EDIT:
I should have read the whole thread first ... oh, well.
Re: Aftermarket Aluminum Head That Fits This Description
Unfortunately no, sorry. You can essentially (generally) get the same results by running the piston about 0.100" below deck with a quench-padded cylinder head.fc2444 wrote:Paul I don't guess you have another set of BT heads do you. I eed a set for a blower motor I am doing

For those who might have never seen them, here are the chambers of the Blue Thunder 100cc heads.

They kinda remind me of the D2AE open chamber heads that run awful. But I'm sure Blue Thunder stuff is much better chamber wise!!

Same garbage, its the application that the chamber works on, you don't need quench with forced induction
