572 P-51 headed build...
Well all my years of collecting useless car parts has finally paid off. I had to reduce the size of my parts collection significantly since I was moving to another smaller shop at the house. So I was able to swap, barter and sell my way into enough parts to build a nice 572 short block. My goals are 900 hp on a conservative tune. Similar build to what psfracer built years ago except with a little less compression. His combo hit 920 hp with a nitrous cam.
List of parts is below. I'm building this short block and swapping the top end off of my 514 onto it without any other changes. Hoping to have it together to run at the race in Kentucky in June. Let me know your thoughts.
A460 block, 4.5 bore
Scat 4.5 forged crank and 6.7 rods from Adney Brown
Diamond flat top pistons 4.5 bore
Kaase P-51 heads, unported. I'll check the spring pressures and valves myself. These heads only have 12-18 passes on them.
Solid roller spec'd by Blake Cartwright
Morel lifters
Comp rockers
TFS Mafia intake
Holley HP 1050 carb, 8896-1 model number
2.125" front exit headers for my Fox Body Mustang.

Planning on it! This will be the icing on the cake for the Mustang. After that if I upgrade again it'll be to a better chassis...

That should be a very solid piece and last as long as you want to run it. Be ready to tweak on the chassis a little with the new power.

I haven't even finished sorting the chassis from the maiden voyage at US60 last year. I'm glad I upgraded the four link bars last year when we were setting up the chassis a few weeks before the race.
Just need to send the converter back to PTC and assemble the shortblock when the parts come in. The 514 comes out this week, gets stripped down to the shortblock and gets put up for sale.

The XD is a good fit for the P51 stuff.

It all sounds solid except the carb just seems a little too small for that motor. Would think it would breathe better and help make a little more with a larger carb. Nice job on the trade deals though!

Yep, It'd love a bigger carb.

I have built pretty much the same engine ,mine has eagle crank and rods,Lem spec'd solid roller , I have a 1250
Quick Fuel carb on mine , Just trying to finish what has turned into a very long project , looking forward to making passes in it this year , anyways just in running engine in car I can already tell engine is happy with carb . Btw my P51 heads are untouched . Interested in how yours works out . Give me a shout on that 514 I might be interested in that for my other 2 projects going on .

Crank and rods should be here this week from Adney Brown at Performance Crank. He called Friday and said the crank didn't need any mallory to balance.
