oil pressure droping on take off
I have a 477 na bracket motor with stock 6 quart front sump pan & when coming off of trans brake the oil pressure drops down for a brief moment. I know I need to switch to a good rear sump pan, just wondering if for now I could try adding another quart of oil to see if its any better?

Try taking off slower.

if you had a cj or p/i pan it'd help a lot.the rear sump or flat bottom pans can be a PIA too,in shutdown.i run a flat pan and i loose psi at the end of the track for a second.i've got it down now and all looks fine so it's not a big deal but i wish it did'nt do that.

A better oil pan is badly needed and an oil pressure accumulator would really help.

Why not weld in a simple 1-1/2" to 2" long baffle side-to-side at the back of the sump to keep more of the oil from climbing out of the front sump during the launch?

Front sump ISN'T the problem ... the oil pan internal design IS ... as Dave said - "get a pan!"
