Thanks gents Smile .
I dropped the motor in tonight, installed the headers, and bolted in my H-pipe... took 5 hours...by my self. Exclamation
Our club car show is Saturday so....
I'm coming home from work early to: put the starter in, install the alternator, add some ground wires, install the rad , add water and oil,
prime the oil pump, assemble and install my carb, connect the fuel lines, install the battery, stab in the distributor, set my cold lash, and... fire it up Exclamation Very Happy
Then install the hood and clean the car up Exclamation tongue
After that... crash... me not the 'Chero. Sleep

It was a long summer working out of town but I'm finally up and running.
I'm putting the 'Chero on a chassis dyno at Dynomotive http://dynomotive.ca/ tomorrow nite for some tuning, then it's off to the track Friday night.
The old A429 headed 466 put down 466 hp at the wheels last year with a best of 11.77 @ 115.35 mph at Race City last year.
This should do a little better eh:

Put the 'Chero on the dyno last night at Dynomotive here in Calgary. http://dynomotive.ca/
My old A429's were max ported but there was a good gain with the P51's.
The Ranchero has a C6 prepped by Frank Merkl, 4000 stall Pro-West converter, 4:11 Detroit Locker, 28"x11" ET Streets.
The 472: 12:1 Diamond pistons, Comp solid roller with 110 LSA, 262/262 duration @ .050", .663/.663 lift , 1000cfm HP Holley,
MSD distributor &6AL, out of the box P51's and a mid 90's Taurus smog pump for evacuation.
We optimized the timing at 31 degrees @ 4000rpm.
Basically the same build as my 466 with new heads. It runs on 94 octane ethanol.
The dark lines are this year's pass vs the dyno pull on the 466.
The DA was about 5700 ft. last night.
I'm heading to the track tonight.

Not good. The air was about 5200 FT DA.
My first run I tried launching at about 2000 (4000 stall converter)... 1.82 sixty foot, 12.02 @ 113.32mph.
Second run... I foot braked it over 3000 until the car was starting to push through the lights. The result was
my best ever 60 Ft - 1.71 but I only went 11.90 @ 113.2 mph.
The best time with the old motor was a 1.77 60 ft. with an 11.77@ 115.35 mph in my 3775 lb car +me at 210 lbs.
The diagnosis from people who worked with my motor previously is my converter is not working right.
I talked with Lenny @ UCC today for a solution.
Our track is done for the season now.

Wondering how the whole power curve was affected by the heads???? Going to take some tweaking to figure out how to take advantage of those heads. Changing something major in your combination invariably causes something else to be changed. How are you shift points compared to before? Wish your track was not closing already..............D

A new Cam and Convertor sounds like where you need to go next.

Here is my take....heads have the potential to make the car quicker.....if you can figure out how to make them work on your particular combination......it may not be simple........Spending money does not guarantee a quicker car.......as things have changed. A new cam and convertor would have made the car quicker before as well.......so figuring out the proper direction is key in this situation......Those were also the first passes with the new combination and there are so many things to work with before throwing money and parts at it.....should be as clear as mud........D
