Take a guess at the HP on my 598 - #'s posted
Ok guys I did the dyno thing yesterday and I learned a lot in a short time about the motor. It was extremely hot yesterday with the inlet air around 99-100. Anyway here are a few of the details. SVO block, Bryant crank, Diamond pistons, BME rods, Kaase pump, ATI damper, A460 heads (ported by Kaase clan), T&E, Manton, Crower, Comp, A460 intake (matched), SV-1 carb, 2 Speedtech fogger systems, …built for lots of juice. Start the guessing game and I will fill you in tomorrow.[img][/img]

im going to say with the proper quench, cam, comp...it should make 1023 on muscle and with both foggers on ...(just remember he is using soft lines for one of the guns )..... it should make around 1503

I am going to assume some things here: 1) conservative tune 940hp 2) no nitrous on dyno

14/1, comp roller w 850 lift, pretty conservative tune up and only spray twice with one system (100/150). Didnt want to break it on the dyno...that needs to be saved for the track!

One of my friends uses one kit with hard lines and the other soft lines and for packaging reasons I think they are pretty cool and they have a plate under each carb. They have been running .036 jets in the soft line kit. Is that about the limit for reliability on a soft line kit?

I see the crank trigger and the vacuum pump,,,,,,,what I don't see are the valves. Are they titanium or stainless steel? Hp guess to follow. Also, what was the correction factor on the dyno yesterday? Looks like a SuperFlow dyno,,,,who's??

Charlie - Stainless valves...wish they were titanium. Only turned it to 7200 yesterday. You are right it is a Superflow....I am not giving the correction factor numbers...only the bottom line numbers.
News - no flow numbers. Ported by Kaase...long story.

With the 1 x 4 manifold the deal should have peaked by 7,200ish rpm. I've never ran a wet sump deal on the dyno with a vac. pump . What was the vacuum in the crankcase at WOT and what was the ring package and I'll offer a w.a.g.
Re: Take a guess at the HP on my 598 - #'s posted
Vacuum was at 4.0 at WOT…I didn’t know it was so important until the dyno section. Man you can really see what it is doing with the engine. Dang I learned so much in one day. It is well worth the money. Lem I will need to check my book but it seems like I set the top ring at 32 and the next at 28. Loose for the juice. Give it a shot. Remember it was hot... 100.

Ring package being.........043" or 3/16 .....gas port or no....etc.
Ring gap aint as big a deal as we thought 10 years ago.

The scoop
I made 2 short pulls to break in the rings, make sure everything was ok etc. and then seven full pulls. Best pull was 1000 hp on motor at 7200. That was with the air at 99-100 and remember this is a nitrous motor not a pure hp motor. I was not even thinking about it being hot! With good air the thing should go 1050 maybe. I wanted to spray the motor just to see if Speedtech’s 100 hp set up is really 100 hp and so on. With 150 shot the motor made 1141. I am pretty happy with the results. I was hoping for 1000 and got a couple hp to spare.
I could not believe all the tension/nervousness that I was feeling that morning. I sure didn’t expect any of that. The whole plan has been for the motor to be strong enough for around 450 -500 on the juice…man do I have a surprise for the little red car…hope she is up to it!
I will post my day at the dyno later. I had a good screw up that you will like.
