I never said that stud rockers with a girdle was always better ... only that shaft mounted rockers weren't necessarily better.

And Barney, If there was another actual A-B test performed then I didn't see it here. That is, if you know what an actual A-B test is; (same conditions and directly back to back).

If you guys want to be simply name calling because I believe more in actual scientificly controlled A-B testing than any other testing performed under differing conditions and different circumstances then I have no problem accepting whatever name you choose.

If you don't like that then just don't accept it or even read it. That's your prerogative.

OH, and I can show you several broken Jesel shafts, bearing cages and bent trunions too ... just because there sometimes is breakage, doesn't make it bad.

I guess I'm done on this thread because some people will NEVER understand the difference between a subjective point of view and something which can be pinpointed as "black & white".

A broke shit, B didnt seems obvious doesnt it? How many A head motors that see 8500 RPM for 25-30 seconds at a time do you see running stud mounts? Does that qualify me to have an opinion in your Greatness's presence. I went back and and reviewed your post history and found very little HELPFUL information. What I did find was a lot of grumpy rambling, useless common knowledge, small minded opinions, and "I'm better than you" rhetoric. With two PHD's I'm trying to figure out just why you aren't able to comprehend what I've actually said instead of what you wish to interject into a hidden meaning which isn't intended to be there. You actually believe you can KNOW the thoughts I might be presuming or not...?
That in itself is simply rediculous. I say what I mean and mean what I say with nothing in the background; (unless it's facetious funnin').
IF those tests were performed "back to back" in the same time frame then that is A-B. In that case I appologize for not giving that opinion creedence however, no where before in here has that fact been stated. In THAT instance your shafts performed better. What I've said here is that I have performed testing which shows the opposite conclusions therefore NEITHER is necessarily always better.
You won't seem to grasp that "ALWAYS BETTER" part and I really don't have any clue why because evidently, you know better.
So, what's the excuse...? It seems to me that you simply want to argue over what you THINK is what I've said.
Again, that's also your prerogative to think that way but, it takes two to argue and I'm finished on this thread.

Bachelor Degrees arent PHD's and my checking account unfortunately proves it. And I will agree that there is very little out there that is ALWAYS better. I do however feel in this particular situation that there would be benefits to shafts given the RPM that A heads like to see. No more, No less. That was my whole point to begin with.

more so that the above flows were questiond, then rockers, then we started about shafts. adding rocker ratios , higher ratios


what some dont get is the fact with todays cam ramps a higher ratio is better then a larger cam, higher ratio more load,yes a little but worth it at the valve, because the engine rev's faster as well
we have a bbc< yes i said that. that we have been going higher on the rato for the last 2 years started @1.70 runs about 8000rpm now, no worse for wear so far,now this engine has not been tore down since last year so we will see, it has stud mounted rockers. in testing the higher ratios did there job. we probaly wont get to test it anymore this year so it will come apart soon,if time and money alow's it will be tested with shafts next.


lem is right theres more load,but is it worth it?, everthing we have done with them have been pos+.

Kinda come down to this, run what you want to run, it's your money do with it as you want. I would say that Randy has probably dealt with more high end engines than any of us here and if he were to suggest something to me I would definately be all ears and not be questioning his opinions. Cool You can call me names or demean me in any way you desire, but I know where to get good solid advice and I for one appreciate his being here and helping us out.

i like everyone's opinion as well,you never know what may help you out with the subject at hand.i have an idea! sometime,somewhere,some of you guys f=v(ken up this thred could get together with a shaft setup and a stud setup and a dyno and see who's got the edge.if yall still cant work it out,use the shaft set to take a swing at somebody and the guy's with the stud mounts can throw them at the other guy's and that should make a dam good use of both of them!however if one were to throw a set of shaft's it realy wouldnt be a fair test but you'd only get 2 chances at the guy with 16 rockers so we still may not be able to get a real A/B answers. Laughing

schmitty , please reread all my post on this thread, im not questioning andys thoughts, only what there based on. ive already said i know he cant aford the shafts, im explaining that for what this head can do there better,hands down over 8000 rpm,and the ratios are another benefit to some engines,even with smaller cams. we dont race dyno,or flow benches, so we test in the real world,this gives us real data to go by.to learn,and or to include on the next engine done.


on page 2 people starting to tell him about shafts,lem thought there was noone making a good set, that when i started telling him about jessel it went from there. the rest of them quit typing, or quit helping. mmmmmmm

lol no worries you wont start a pissing match with me cool because i was tryin to help, i wish i could test,or dyno that engine for/with you with both,but theres a lot to do when useing shafts, pushrod holes,stand height,etc.as far as not afording them, maybe i got crossed up on the $$ part,because they are pricy.
