Re: the 552 carnage pictures i promised
Yep, I thought about it during some work today. Then I just came on here and saw this comment. It had to be something in either the block (probably) or the crank (don't think so). But you know what I meant by balancing the rods right? Setting them all at an equal weight before you balance the assembly. But that I see why the statment is wrong.DanH wrote:about the rod statement , should think about that . lolbb429power wrote:I'm trying to figure this one out. Notice how saddles 1, 3, and 5 are still in tact. And those are the crank's main support, maybe the rods were not balanced before balancing? Just trying to figure out this mystery.
Another thing, saddles 2 and 4 both broke in the same dang place.

Holy messing stuff up. Big Daddy gives you a handfull of style points on that one. I believe that is the worst destruction of a block that I have ever seen.

thats what my first "race" block did.it was on #2 and was a thin web d1ve block.it had been beat to hell and a screw up with a timing light put me at 60*.if i had'nt bought a new msd 7al2,could'nt turn it over with it,i would'nt have found it.aahhh the good old days glad it did'nt gut it like yours did.sorry for your bad luck.Lem Evans wrote:I've seen a couple of blocks crack from the main bolt hole to the cam tunnel at #2........I'm told it happens on #4 too. I suspect that's what happened first.

Larry - I saw the run from the stands and thought it was going to be bad. I was still hoping it was something small. When I asked you about it I could tell by the look on your face it was bad (and it was). Felt your pain that day brother. Get her back together and good luck. Hope to run into you again someday at the track. Randy

Might not have been anything wrong or the tune off at all, just the fact that that block could'nt take 832 hp.

This kind of scares me trying to make 950hp with a stock block. I am looking on a good deal for A460 block. But will be used on freshing up.
