It lives
I got to make the trip over to Engine Systems to dyno and pick up my motor yesterday. Had a great time with Keith and Ted. I haven't put up alot about the build, was trying to keep it under my hat but one of my racing buddies drank a few too many beers and spilled the beans. No big deal they knew I had been quite too long not to be have something brewing. Any way I bought a some what wounded alum.block 605 from the same guys I bought the car from. I decided to go this route when my stock block 533 was beyond repair.
As with any used race stuff there were some issues along the way.Ted and keith were noting short of masterfull working thru the problems. In keith's words "all normal stuff". The parts were not mismatched but maybe not what they would have chose if starting from scratch. When I bought it it came with almost all of the hard parts to complete it. Any thing that moves is new except the rocker arms .
They made 1004 hp and 874fpt at 6700 on gas and backed it up 974 hp and 882 fpt with my 1050 alky domy at 6200. Yes it is too small but it is basicaly new and I own it. Have some plans to change the alky set up in the future as time and money allows.I could not have more pleased with how this build went.Shoud be fun with a little spray on radials.
It will still be a bit before I make it to the track as this is a new build and still need to to final fitting and fab when we get the engine in the car. Keith feel free to post up any of the photos and info if you would like.

Ward's 605 build posed a few challenges, but I guess that is what makes this process so much fun.
It is a very straight forward 10 liter A head combination.
Nice Diamond pistons, Eagle crank and rods, good flowing Trick Flow A heads and single manifold all made fine accessories for the C and C aluminum block. Ward brought lots of good accessories that we massaged a little during the build. We added a Star Sportsman vacuum pump kit that was impressive. The pump had lots of adjustment to go...on the relief valve and it would still pull over 10 inches on alky.
We bolted on our old trusty crusty Chuck Nyutten (sp?) Dominator and it effortlessly cranked out over 1000HP with no tuning.
It is one of those builds that gave me a comfortable feeling as I shrink wrapped it for the trip home.
I am sure that Ward will quickly learn of the joy of having a 10 liter Ford in his shop.
Thanks Ward...
Keith

Re: A few spy shots
I realy like external pumps...Ward will be happy with it.
The last ext. pump I sold was a SCP....good bang for the buck.

I went ahead and slid it in the car yesterday afternoon.Figured it was as good of place as any to put it.That way I can go ahead and finish placing the few things in the car.Stange how much better the car looks with the engine setting in it.It is my goal to hasve it running at full song by the NMRA finals . I know some of you are not big fans of that race but you have to love that track.

I agree Ward,BeechBend, Norwalk, and Bristol are my top 3. In the Hot summer,Beech bend is very Family friendly w/water park and rides.

What's up with the upper radiator hose and the coil?

Re: A few spy shots
On their dyno the coil is mounted above the engine just out of the pic. It is part of the dyno all you do is plug up your coil wire. I honestly had not noticed the rad. hose.It was a long hose I guess to fit several set up's.It looks like it was sucked togather. Heat was not a issue. We had to givr it run time to warm it up on alcohol.

Ding...ding...you win the prize!
I wondered how long it would take for someone to notice the hose.
We have a large assortment of hoses to adapt various engines to the dyno.
This particular one likes to suck flat as the engine cools.
No worries...when the pump is turned on, it returns to a happy state.
Oh...the prize...
It is a free photo of Ward's 605.
Just right mouse click, copy and paste!

Takes a while trying to get evey thing to fit,it is really slow around here as threr is no place that stocks fittings or any thing for that matter.I have to order every thing in.My only major issue right now is getting a fuel cell that will work.May have to have a custom one built.

Re: A few spy shots
I will, I'm a little ashamed of the car right now it is filthy from being in the shop. I moved it over to the lift so I can get it wiped down and get some good chassis photos.
