Re: A few spy shots
Things are just moving slow right now. Taking my time, trying to get every thing to fit as it should. Lots of little pains getting the headers to come in and ot like I want. Getting all the AN fittings and lines together. This is a pain where I live because no one stocks AN stuff. It's a 2 day delay if you miss something.Put the trans in last night and had to pull it right back out due to a spacing issue. I think all the hard parts I like is the battery and drive shaft. Money is a little short right now, kids going back to school and Wyatt starts college at Alabama this month as well.

I can sure feel your pain, Ward. Being in a small town in AL, race car parts ALWAYS involve shipping.

I think you are going to need the msd HVAC coil for the crank trigger ignition

Why does he need another coil? mine works fine with a propower.

His ignition:Larry T wrote:hummmm that is what msd recomends with the crank trigger setup....im sure im not the only one who has fell for that:shock:
MSD Distributor, locked out
Crank trigger
MSD 7AL3,
MSD 7730 Grid Controller, gives all the Digital functions to the old style 7AL3
With the 7AL3 that coil will do just fine. If he was using a Digital 7 or the MSD 7720 (Ignition half of the full Grid system) then he would need the HVC coil.
Re: A few spy shots
Yea,I can't see what the crank trigger would have to do w/that coil. I had that coil on mine w/ct.

Re: A few spy shots
If it don't work I'll blame it on Dan H. Thats where the coil came from. If I get to work on it I may fire it this weekend.

Re: A few spy shots
That coil ran exactly the same as the HVC I replaced it with. You'll be fine with it Wardcool40 wrote:Why does he need another coil? mine works fine with a propower.

Re: A few spy shots
Have about 95% of wiring complete. Putting in the rear fuel cell, thanks Schmitty, and lines for NOS. Hope to fire it this weekend if all goes well. Wiring has been a time eater on this one. Still hope to have it up and going to get a few pass's in this fall. I have just slowed down and tried to do things right. Some of it has been costly. I'm pretty happy with the result though. I'll try to do better with the updates. Not alot to look at just pulling one wire at the the time.

Re: A few spy shots
We have the old bucket of bolts running. Started it yesterday evening. Ran real rough at first. Shot ducks and wold not rev at all. Sounded like a carb. problem. every thing checked out on it. Put it back together same thing. Reset the power grid no change. Put the MSD ign. tester on it showed low signal from crank trigger sensor. My buddy had a spair, fired up and ran like a champ!
I,m going to the NMRA finals this weekend hope to have the few odd's and ends that I need gathered up and it will be off to the track. It sure was nice to see it move under it's own power.I've worked on it hard and often for almost a full yr.
Again thanks to everyone on here who has helped me.I bought several used pieces for ign. nos programer carb ect. from people on this board and it all worked with out a problem. That speaks well for a lot of people on here.

Getting close
I'm finally very close to seeing the track with this car. Nos Gas fuel cell is mounted. Ordered new helment, old one was cracked . New fire bottle, old one was spent. I will not run a fast car with out one. New fly wheel, it had a flat spot where it kicked back due to bad crank trigger. While I have the trans out I'm going to have the converter respaced so I won't have to run any thing besides the motor motor plate. I have a little time off this week so I hope to get it finished up over the week end.

From the crash in the car that this one has replaced. Same reason for the empty fire bottle.Dave C. wrote:Cracked helmet?
