Re: First passes with the 514
How was the track prep and air temp after the converter change as a comparison to when you ran it after the cam change ?tfsbbf466 wrote:I changed the converter first then the cam.
Crank is cast
Did you jet the 850 after converter and cam change?
By reading your build I maybe over carb'd for my 466 and my 393W.
Thanks

Re: First passes with the 514
The nights were similar and it hooks everytime so that is a non issue. It lost .10 with the tighter converter but gained a mph. Cam swap at first didn't pick up so I tightened the lash and switch my motor and nitrous pumps bc I only had a blue pump running the motor and it picked up almost a tenth and 2mph over my best. Nitrous times picked up even more which made me way happy. When I went from the 73 to the 82 jet I gained less the 1 tenth a 1mph so I assume the carb and or headers are still holding me back some.whitefield wrote:How was the track prep and air temp after the converter change as a comparison to when you ran it after the cam change ?tfsbbf466 wrote:I changed the converter first then the cam.

The cam change will show even more when you get the carb and headers right...............

Thanks man. Suspension is pretty simple. Lowered I beams up front with stock coils and 90/10s. Stock leafs with the rear on top of springs with caltrac bars and I have the rear shocks mounted behind the rear. Cheap Rancho single adjust.whitefield wrote:Dang it man !What have you got for traction ? That's turning it up and turning it on !
I wanted to do a carb before the years up but I need to get my daily driver fixed. I've been driving this truck daily for the last 3 months. I'll be happy with another 9 second pass to back it up. Next year I'll make some changes.

That's great that you can do that. What kind of mpg does it get, just out of curiosity?tfsbbf466 wrote: I've been driving this truck daily for the last 3 months.

Re: First passes with the 514
Never really checked but it's not good lol. Luckily I don't have to drive it too far on a regular basis. Definitely isn't my first choice for a daily but it does ok and cruises nice on the highway with the tighter converter, 3.70s and a near 30" tire.Nastynotch wrote:That's great that you can do that.
