I used Brad Penn 10w30 on my old 488 with some pretty heavy nitrous use. All the bearings looked good when we pullet it apart. Granted I was only running a few seconds at a time, but 3 years of abuse and they still look new

I will have to call the tec line and ask how well Micron Moly is with E85.

Any of Schaeffer's oils are compatible with e85, I have already checked on this.

hmmm... I run the Brad Penn 15-40 semi-synthetic - with methanol. works fine, been using it for years. I chose it based on a recommendation from Total Seal.

I did years ago, until I started using Schaeffer. Oil analysis started coming back in the single digit on wear partials in part per million.
Temps dropped, extended drain intervals, and fuel mileage went up too.
Royal Purple will show the same results as will Amsoi, but their price is over double with no added benefit.

How long do you run the Schaeffer oil before changing? I'll have to see if I can find some locally.

I went to Schaeffer web page and there's a tab for "look for Dealer" put your zip in and bingo!
There's one about 15 miles from me. Going to call and make sure they have the weight i'm looking for.

They offer a oil analysis service as long as your buying their oil. Take a sample of each oil change and they will recommend the drain intervals.
It has a lot to do with the environment your running it in and how good of shape your engine is.
They provide a sample bottle that's self labeled, just follow the instructions fill out the info card, and put it in the mail.

I run a Jomar filter on my race car, and FL-1A on everything else.

I was just looking at that and will see if I can get a case to try. Was at PRI last year and Brad Penn said they were good running their synthetic 20/50 race oil with Methanol, so I ran it all last year and even changed it pretty frequently. Last night I ran it before putting away for the winter, I noticed after 6 passes, Oil temp was about 210 and pressure was about 30psi at idle, so I am planning to pull the engine and inspect the bearings before running this year.

1.73 rockers with a stud girdle. Blue Thunder "B" ported heads with 2 1/4 primary into 4in collectors.
I'm thinking a syn oil that will work with E85 with be what I go with. Thanks for all the info.
How big? Cubic inches on "this build"?

"New" 10 year old shelf oil
My car has been sitting for 10 years. Tore engine down to freshen. The oil in the pan and tank looked fresh, no sludge or sign of seperation. Will try to load up a picture of what was in the bottom of "10" year old oil. Just curious why the bottled oil seperated and the "ran" oil did not. Thinking I will go back with Mobile 1.

rbro460 wrote:So what brand or brands of motor oil does you all using? I have a 484ci 600hp reworked 460 4 bolt main. The guy I bought it from used Quaker State.
All hp good parts, I will have to look up specs later. 50 pass's on the motor, 35 were with a 200 shot of juice. How good is Joe Gibbs oil?
I presume it uses gasoline...? Is it solid or hydraulic lifters...?
